It's fine for a PC, but it irritates me for my own personal avatar.
Personally I'd like a way for the GM to be able to specify whatever appears there for each character. The race, class, and gender info should be a no-brainer for anyone in the game, but it might be nice to specify honorifics, titles, or nicknames that the PCs have gained.
If you "blank" out those fields in your profile, the information goes away.

I know, but I don't want to blank out the fields in my profile, I just don't really want it appearing on every post. That said, it doesn't seem to be appearing here. Does it depend on which part of the board you are posting?

As far as blanking it out, yea it stinks, but I just moved that information into the text area of the profile. What is cool, though, is anything in those fields will be displayed so one could put in hp, ac, or other pertinent information for the game.

We may be making some changes to this in the near-ish future. For now Papa.DRB is correct, the race/gender stuff only appears in play-by-post forums, and you can leave those fields blank on your profile to keep them from displaying.
Thanks, Gary.
And Papa, I certainly agree that they are useful for characters, less so if it's your habitual avatar. It's a niggle, not a disaster, but it annoys me slightly every time I see it, especially as I spend most of my time on the PbP boards.
