Spell failure & Hex's

Rules Questions

Ok ....this might have been answered already, but do Hex's suffer from spell failure. I ask only because I have a player that started as a rogue and has just taken her first level as a witch. The player is willing to suffer for a few levels till she can take a feat that would help, but we are unclear as to if the Hex's suffer as well.

I don't believe witch hexes are subject to any sort of arcane spell failure due to armor. Their spells would be subject to spell failure, but not, I don't think, their hexes.

No. Hexes are all supernatural or extraordinary abilities as far as I can tell. The hexes should each have a Su or Ex to tell you this. You can take a feat at mid levels ("Spell Hex"?) to make a single 1st level spell into a 3/day hex, used as a Spell-like ability*, but even then, spell-like abilities also don't suffer spell failure %. Only arcane spells suffer arcane spell failure.

*Also notable is that the hex entry specifically says: "Unless otherwise noted, using a hex is a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity."

The feat to gain a spell-like ability hex does NOT state that it provokes AoOs, so even that hex would not provoke, unlike a typical spell-like.

EDIT: Just scanned the list of hexes. Poison Steep, Swamp Hag, Hidden Home, Speak in Dreams, and Summon Spirit hexes are all Sp (spell-like abilities). The rest of the hexes are all Su or Ex, none are spells. Also, none of those Sp hexes say they provoke an AoO, so as per the quoted text, no witch hex that currently exists provokes an AoO for using. Not your question, but still handy to know.

Hex is a supernatural ability, and follows the rules of such abilities.
