Are there any feats, items, spells, class abilities or anything to make summoned creatures last longer than 1a round per caster level? I love summon swarm because it lasts as long as you can concentrate on it + 23 rounds but it seems like that's the only summon that does that. I'd love to make a character that summons multiple creatures to do the fighting for him but early levels that seems impossible because by the time they get out they have one or two rounds to act then just dissapear. Any advice?

And other GMs read the rules and notice this line:
Activation: wrote:Details relating to rod use vary from item to item. Unless noted otherwise, you must be holding a rod to use its abilities. See the individual descriptions for specifics.;)
Yep. And the "use-activated" description says items can be worn or carried... sometimes.
The GMs I've played with who rule that the rod only has to be possessed by the caster use the logic that some spells require both hands to cast.
Now, are there spells that actually require two hands?
Not really clear about that... But if so, then their ruling makes sense.
Not that it's ever been an issue in any game I've been in.
FWIW I'm one of those lax GMs that allow it to be used if possessed, you don't have to hold it in my games.

Yeah, trust me, you'll never get longer durations than with the Summoner, and Master Summoner can have as many of his summons out as he wants/needs if his eidolon isn't out. I'm playing one in a Kingmaker campaign, and I have NEVER gone through all my summons. We're currently 8th almost 9th level.
Also, if you want many summons, look at Superior Summoning from Ultimate Magic and summoning lower level creatures. I enjoy doing this for lantern archons... :)
