Just want to verify if this is technically "legal" as far as the rules are concerned.
Scenario: A magus w/ Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Bastard Sword), Vital Strike, Quicken Spell, enlarge person, and shocking grasp.
Round 1: Cast enlarge person on self
Round 2:
- free action: cast a quickened shocking grasp, hold the charge
- move action: advance a single move to within striking distance of an enemy
- standard action: Vital Strike, swinging the sword with 2 hands, and releasing the shocking grasp via spellstrike
Is this legit?
Because frankly, I would love to wail on someone this way.

Casting a quickened spell is not a free action. It is a swift action.
Otherwise your example seems legal and correct to me. Not sure why you would believe otherwise. There's no spell combat involved in this case after all.
I will note this probably isn't a great tactics as even with Enlarged Person, your dice for your weapon is only 3d6. It'll still be fun though.

Yes, I would say that is legitimate. Personally I wouldn't allow the double use of the off-hand (for somatic components and part of a two-handed attack), but there are no well defined rules about that sort of thing.
Do note, however, that you would only double the bastard sword's damage, not that of the spell AND the bastard sword.

Why?
Why not on round 2:
Standard action: Cast shocking grasp.
Move action: Single Move to target
Free action: Swing sword with 2 hands to deliver the spell.
Swift action: Cast quickened shocking grasp.
Free action: Swing sword with 2 hands to deliver the spell.
(possibly using quick draw or still spell as needed, likewise also intensify & likely empower).

Yeah, I meant to type swift action - don't know why it came out free action.

A bastard sword's damage goes from 1d10 (medium size) to 2d8 (large size), correct? With Vital strike, that becomes 4d8 (or 6d8 with improved)
Why not on round 2:
Standard action: Cast shocking grasp.
Move action: Single Move to target
Free action: Swing sword with 2 hands to deliver the spell.
Swift action: Cast quickened shocking grasp.

Can you move between the casting of a touch spell and the free attack? My understanding was that the attack was part of the actual casting and therefore couldn't be broken up with the move action in the middle of it.
