I know, it is not a very relevant question but while integrating a family of gillmen in my actual adventure, I got the idea that a people would never name itself "gillmen". This sounds more like an insulting nickname given to them by other races.
Do anybody know, if I missed a book or a post that suggested a cool (or proud) azlanti name for them? Or do you have an idea of your own?
Any input is welcome. :)

Don't know about official sources, but I usually default (in cases like these) to 'the people', or 'the family' if they're a closer knit unit.
Other useful terms:
'The tribe'
'The clan'
'The folk'
etc. use the flavour that fits in best with how they see themselves. superior types might use 'the first xxx' if they see themselves as superior antecedents of others.

An alternative would be they call themselves a name that translates to "people" and refer to other humanoid races something like "air breathers" or "dry landers".
The thread title reminded me of the Harvey Birdman episode where a Johnny Quest frogman is on the witness stand:
Birdman: State your name.
Witness: Frogman.
Birdman: Your last name.
Witness: Frogman.
Birdman: Occupation.
Witness: Frogman.

According to First Steps Part 3 the people commonly referred to as Gillmen prefer to call themselves Low Azlanti.
...Escadar is also home to many gillmen (or Low Azlanti, as they call themselves).
There is a good smattering of info about this race and their culture in this scenario. Download it and give it a read.

I imagine it is something like "burble burble glub glub bubble click"
That was just based on the title of the thread. I haven't seen anything in any of the books that gives them a different name...although I do like "heirs of Azlant"

Burble burble glub glub bubble click sounds good. Maybe it translates to "True Azlanti Not Like That Popmpous Usurper Who Finally Got What He Deserved"
BTW: it now occured to me that Aroden's death could be caused by Aboleths trying to get rid of living Azlanti god or serpentfolk driven by the same reasons.

I'd go with just 'Azlanti.'
Low Azlanti, again, sounds like something they would be called by others. I can't see Gillmen calling themselves 'Low' Azlanti anymore than wood elves would call themselves 'dumber than high elves' or 'degenerate elves.'
Deep Azlanti, on the other hand, could work, on a couple of levels.

They call themselves Low Azlanti because they believe themselves to be descendants of the Azlanti themselves.
/opinion
To call themselves Azlanti would be somewhat of a slight at the greatness of Azlanti culture. They also wouldn't be fooling anyone calling themselves Azlanti proper. So they choose to go with a less in your face claim to fame by using Low Azlanti.
/opinion
The Low Azlanti aka Gillmen have gone so far as establishing an embassy in the city of Escadar and naming it, The Low Azlanti Embassy.

Thanks a lot for all the good input. I'm still chuckling about "burble burble glub glub bubble click". :)
I agree with Set that "Low Azlanti" also has a negative touch. I like Deep Azlanti or Heirs of Azlant. So I don't have to create an azlanti word for "people" (but perhaps that's what azlanti means? ;)
