Skin for the Synthesist

Rules Questions

I love the Synthesist archetype but hate the translucent skin. Flavor reasons.

How about a hat of disguise? Can you program it to do nothing more than give your Eidelon some Opaque skin to match whatever shape you've chosen? Or is this breaking a semi-mechanical flaw installed to keep Synthesists from being Am Superman?

Just have your eidolon wear clothes - like a full body suit.

How about just reskin the eidolon, the description is just fluff. My games the look of the eidolon is entirely up to the player. if he wants it to be something he turns into, or a translucent image etc it is up to them.

Yes, speak to your GM. Changing fluff has literally no effect on game play and most GMs will allow it in order to facilitate a player creating the character concept he or she wishes to play.

Gonna echo the sentiment that the visual effects aren't really relevant to the crunch of the synthesist; talk to your DM, and have it look however you like. This archetype really is perfect (thematically, at least) for all those werewolf types or others who want to play some sort of monster. That shouldn't be hampered by the default description.

Silver Crusade

Concurrin'.

I would certainly allow and in fact recommend just reflavoring it as a GM. I know the "floating in a ghost monster" image doesn't work with anything I'd want to use the Synthesist for, so I wouldn't force it on other players.

It's still going to have the signature forehead sigil after all.
