Can an alchemist prepare bombs and extracts underwater?

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

Had this come up in a game tonight and wanted to know.

Thanks!

How's the wizard doing with his waterproof spellbook?

Liberty's Edge

I take it from your response that the answer is no? I thought memorized formulas and chemical extracts might work differently underwater.

Thanks for the quick response!

Actually, I can think of a whole host of problems for just about every class. Do you have more details? I'm sure a clever alchemist could find some way of mixing chemicals in an underwater setting: perhaps he has a modified kit that allows for mixing of ingredients without seawater getting in?

Liberty's Edge

Not familiar with any special equipment that allows it but it would be awesome!

Grand Lodge

An oil of Air Bubble works.

Is it for a homegame? Ask your GM if you can use Craft: Alchemy to modify your alchemy kit for underwater use.

I'd say we need more info. Is this an underwater campaign, or just a temporary obstacle? If the former, I'd come up with a plausible explanation to allow the Alchemist to work as normal. If it is the latter and the GM intends for this to be an issue, than so be it. If not, I (as the GM) would provide the Alchemist with a temporary way around this.

Problem solved.

Cerulean Sea has a method of using a gel for mixing. Book is great for underwater stuff.

The Exchange

Cerulean Seas is awesome for underwater stuff. The alchemists use heavier liquids than water to mix everything together. Some gels, other simply liquids. Scientifically speaking, though, all of the stuff concerning mixing, at least, si scientifically plausible.

Grand Lodge

Seriously, air bubble works. You could use a bag of holding with a bottle of air as well.
