Necklace of Fireballs inside a Bag of Holding

Rules Questions

If I have a Necklace of Fireballs inside a Bag of Holding and I'm hit with a fire spell, can the necklace still detonate prematurely?

I guess that depends on what happens to the stuff in the bag if the bag of holding is destroyed by the fireball.

Personally, I think when a bag of holding is destroyed, all its stuff springs out like a jack in the box, unless their is something creepy about the bag and it gets lost inside or is hard to get out anyway.

But if the bag of holding is intact, no, no way could something inside be damage by fire. The bag is basically a cave entrance. A disruption at the gate doesn't do anything to what's inside unless that disruption comes inside.

What is inside the bag is never affected by what is outside the bag. Fireball like most spells requires line of effect.

The bag would only need to make a save it was targeted directly or if your rolled a 1 on your saving throw and the bag is the item that is then chosen from the "Items Affected by Magical Attacks" table.

If the bag of holding is ruptured then everything inside it is lost forever

EDIT: Which makes bags of holding a superb way to dispose of evidence or hide something permanently - stick evidence in and stab bag - though a little pricey.
