I'm fairly new to Pathfinder, and I'm still finding my way around the rule-set.
In a recent encounter I DMed our 9th level, 4 person party was ambushed by a patrol of drow warriors. Sleep bolts took out half the party in the first couple of rounds, but the high Fort. monk/gladiator and sleep immune paladin weathered the barrage and got to work crushing the drow (or rather, the monk did, whilst the paladin clanked along in his wake waving around his glowing greatsword so they could see). Despite their numbers, the drow were individually quite weak, most falling to a single blow.
With this in mind, the monk/gladiator made a full attack, hurling his dagger+4 at an approaching drow to take him out (and proved to be correctly unconcerned about the provoked attack of opportunity) then used his additional attack to fell the drow he was meleeing with.
It seemed an awesome way to end the encounter, and something I'll certainly allow in the future, but I'm curious if the RAW allow characters to throw a weapon then use unarmed attacks to complete a full attack?

Nothing about a full-attack restricts you to melee attacks. Heck, if you have quickdraw, you can make all of your attacks with thrown daggers.
Unless you're talking about flurry of blows, which can only use unarmed strikes or weapons with the "monk" quality - the dagger is not eligible for such a flurry.
