Can't Complete First Steps: Part III

So I started a new character and played the first two parts of First Steps and then was unable to complete the last one because I was out of town. Do I have to complete part III in order to receive the PA and Fame from the first two parts or can I just play another scenario and still receive the PA and Fame from the first two parts? So just to clarify if I played a scenario other than First Steps Part III (and complete both the mission and faction mission) would I have 6PA/6Fame or would I only get 4PA/4Fame? Either way can you give me a reference so I know where the answer is from?

There's no campaign documentation that I'm aware of that says you need to play all the First Steps series, nor do you need to play them in order. It would be a bit rough on new players to say "Welcome to PFS, you haven't finished playing this series so your character is stuck until you do."

You'll receive 2PA, 1XP, and gold as determined by your GM at the time for each scenario.

Jonathan is correct - although I think(?) the documentation states you receive PA after playing all three, it's a little impractical to enforce this, for the reasons you've described.

You should receive PA/Fame/XP/Gold for each First Steps scenario you've completed, and your paper Chronicle sheets are your official record - the online reporting, while a useful backup, is mostly so Paizo knows where and how often PFS is being played. So carry over your totals from First Steps Parts I and II over to your next Chronicle sheet played.

Note: If your character plays a different scenario next, he can never return to complete First Steps Part III, because you must use a starting character - playing any other scenario excludes that character from First Steps.

You could, however, play First Steps Part III with a new secondary character, and it's not a bad idea to have a back-up character in any case, just keep them two or three levels apart, and you'll find you have more options when scenarios of different Tiers are scheduled.

Yeah, there's nothing saying you have to play all 3 parts, or play them in order. You get credit for whatever you've played, as with any other scenarios.

My first PFS character's first adventure was part 3 of First Steps. I never did play the first two parts with that character. My second character played part 1 of First Steps, but not the other two. Since those characters are levels 4 and 5 now, I'm planning to play part 2 of First Steps with a new level 1 character at a convention coming up next week. I may also repeat one of the other parts with the new level 1 character.

To be clear, you can play the entire First Steps series as many times as you want -- with different characters each time through, of course.

True, but he is just saying in response to if one character plays parts one and two, then plays something else and becomes level two, while that character can no longer play part three, a second 1st level character can be used to play part three to experience the story and finish the trilogy before playing through the whole series again.

Thanks for the clarification!
