Perfect Strike (Ex): At 4th level, when a kensai hits with his chosen weapon, he can spend 1 point from his arcane pool in order to maximize his weapon damage. Don't roll for damage—the weapon deals maximum damage. This affects only the WEAPON'S BASE DAMAGE DICE, not additional damage from sneak attack, magical weapon properties, spellstrike, or critical hits.
Vital Strike (Combat)
You make a single attack that deals significantly more damage than normal.
Prerequisites: Base attack bonus +6.
Benefit: When you use the attack action, you can make one attack at your highest base attack bonus that deals additional damage. Roll the weapon's damage dice for the attack twice and add the results together before adding bonuses from Strength, weapon abilities (such as flaming), precision based damage, and other damage bonuses. These extra weapon damage dice are not multiplied on a critical hit, but are added to the total.

hmmm interesting, this really depends on what the extra damage from vital strike counts as, i'm going to say that they don't work together to give you a bucket load of damage, but can be used together. Vital Strike's extra damage isn't actually typed in the description, it's just giving you extra damage dice based on the weapon's damage dice, so i'd rule that as untyped damage (that isn't multiplied on a crit) and Perfect Strike calls out the weapon's base damage dice. so with just pulling some numbers out of my bum to show out it would work
normal hit: 1d10+6
Perfect Strike: 16
Vital Strike: 2d10+6
Perfect Strike and Vital Strike: 1d10+16
