Has anyone dealt with the 'retrieve item' spell found in Classic Treasures Revisited?

I am a little confused. Does this mean a user of this spell could potentially have an unlimited amount of items (under 1 lb.) instantly at their disposal if they casted this spell multiple days every day as the duration is permanent?
Or it is that while the spell is active it uses up a 2nd level slot which is more game balancing in my eyes.
Any thoughts anyone? Could really use some fellow DM guidance.
As written you could have any number in effect, but remember you must be in range to call the item and once called the spells discharged.
