Alchemist Formulae Book question

Rules Questions

So I started running a game recently and there is an Alchemist in the party and I'm about to throw an Alchemist (Preservationist) at the party and I was wondering, since the Alchemist can learn extracts from Wizard spell-books or other formulae books, can the Alchemist in the party learn Summon Natures Ally from the Preservationists formulae book? This would also be a question about learning extracts from other Alchemist variants that get extra extracts such as the Reanimator or Vivisectionist.

I don't have a citation, but I think if you're not a Preservationist, then SNA is not on your Alchemist formulae list, so you can't learn it, much like you can't learn a Wizard spell that has no equivalent formulae.

O, ok. I didn't realize it had to be on the list of spells you could learn which is why I was confused. That makes much more sense. Thanks.

Every class has a spell list and can only learn spells from their spell list unless there is an explicit exception (otherwise alchemists/ wizards/ magi could learn any spell in the game from scrolls).
