Im leaning towards playing a Magus in our next game. The GM has allowed us 2 traits using 1 from the Carrion Crown setting and one other.
Since Im not sure how the Magus plays at high level as far as casting (or casting in general) I wasn't sure how useful the "Inspired by Greatness" trait would be. It provides you the ability to take 1 spell and always cast that spell with a +1 caster level. I have never played a caster so Im not sure how beneficial this would be. Thoughts?
The other 3 options I see that could be beneficial for the character are "Chance Savior" for a +2 Initiative, "Making good on Promises" +2 vs fear save, or "Teacher's Pet" +2 to one Knowledge skill and make it a class skill.

+1 caster level will help with:
1) Duration of effects (+1 round/minute/hour, depending on chosen spell)
2) Overcoming Spell Resistance (if chosen spell allows SR)
3) Damage of spell (if chosen spell's damage varies by level)
That said, it applies only to one spell. You mention that you haven't played a caster before; this particular trait can be very helpful if you have one very specific spell chosen in advance that you're sure you're going to be casting a LOT. It doesn't sound like that describes you, so you'd be better advised to go with any of the other traits you listed.
The +2 vs fear is fairly situational. On the other hand, it's no secret that this adventure path features gothic horror, so fear pops up reasonably often. Taking this one wouldn't hurt you.
+2 initiative is always good, though a bit mechanical -- it does fairly little to enhance your PC's character in terms of role playing if you ask me. Still, this would be a solid choice, particularly if you wind up with a low DEX for some reason.
Having a class knowledge skill with an additional +2 is also solid choice. This is probably what I would choose personally, because in addition to conferring a good in-game benefit (a good knowledge check can save you from terrible consequences!), it also tells you something about your character. Why was it that your PC chose this particular area of knowledge? It offers a little more scope for spinning back story. Refer to the player's guide for recommendations on Knowledge skills.
