Spell resistance

Rules Questions

Does an unconscious monster or character still get sppell resistance.
It says in the main rules that spell resistance can be lowered does that mean that it's always active or only when the characters is awake?

Sovereign Court

From the Spell Resistance entry in the Glossary of the Core Rulebook:

Quote:
A creature can voluntarily lower its spell resistance. Doing so is a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity. Once a creature lowers its resistance, it remains down until the creature's next turn. At the beginning of the creature's next turn, the creature's spell resistance automatically returns unless the creature intentionally keeps it down (also a standard action that does not provoke an attack of opportunity).

So it would remain up for an unconscious creature.

Spell resistance is always active unless you take a standard action to lower it, and then its only down for a round. You have to be conscious to lower your spell resistance.

Spell resistance is not that great of an idea for PCs then. You have to waste your turn to get buffs from the party. And it sucks to have a character unconscious and dying, with the cleric being unable to heal you because he can't get through your SR.
