As ballsy as the grievance-expression may be, there's a bit of false equivalency there.
Orientation, and the complications and entanglements that it entails, are a far more complex and significant subject matter than whether or not our esteemed tanuki has the full 8-tatami measure, and while most gamers are aware of the significance of said, those who are neophytes or making their way in from other games and activities are going to be less concerned unless they are min-maxers who want the detachable 'drums' to be used as a melee weapon.

That's kind of the entire point, the next time a PC is a problem I want them to be beaten to death with a pair of giant testicles.

I have gone back, re-read that answer, and realized that an understated indication of a slam attack while hands are full, combined with the traditional teapot lore, makes it make perfect sense that, while not my cuppa, a tanuki teabagging is not outside of the realm of possibility.
It's license to a GM to say, "You're sacked."

Yeah... turns out, a tanuki with a giant bulge in his pants would cause more problems for us than it would solve, since we're an American company after all... :-(
That said... the tanuki DOES have a slam attack that he can use when his hands are full with weapons. How that slam attack looks when he attacks, we leave up to the GMs of the world.
And yes, the third one is a ki-rin. And not a weird looking one—just one we wanted to look different than the one that's been in D&D all these years (we generally try to put our own spin on monsters we present who have long traditions in D&D).
Glad they left the "slam" attack in, but it still pisses me off how devs are censoring themselves more and more to appease the bible belt.

It'd be a bit nuts for Paizo to portray them way in the US, particularly on the heels of the Beginners Box. Honestly, I'm okay with them being portrayed the way they are in Bestiary 3, as I'd rather not see anyone sacked over any controversy that might swell over trying to be accurate to the legends.
The abstract slam attack is still there for those that want to portray them that way, after all.

Seriously, it takes stones to make such bald-faced assertions.
People may bag on it, but sometimes it's the only way to get people to take a look at what's underneath.

To be honest I guessed what the end of the question was before I entered the topic. >_>
OP: Perhaps they do. The one in the picture was wearing pants, maybe they were just contained within the pants.

Would that be a Handy Ballsack?

Where does it say they are trying to appease the Bible belt? We would not be seeing devils, demons, daemons, daemonds, etc if that was the case.

Wasn't United States the country where an emergency session of the parliament was called after a nipple was accidentally shown on televison? Well, there goes your answer.
LOL! And that same America ritually burned Melissa Etheridge CD's when she confessed she was a lesbian, and that same America burned Queen Cd's because in the clip of I want to break free they dressed up as women for fun... And that same America thinks Amsterdam is taken over by criminal gangs...
I think that Paizo needs to become European. ;)
Tanuki's are fine as they are in Bestiary 3, I never knew creatures with huge balls even excisted so I don't really miss the humongous balls.

Sorry, no. As was pointed out up thread, The United States does not have a Parliament and Congress has never addressed the wardrobe malfunction incident. The FCC did fine CBS for the incident but because they found that it was intentional, not accidental. Nor did America burn any CDs or DVDs, a small but vocal intolerant minority did. And America does not believe such a thing about Amsterdam, people in America might but the country does not. All of the above statements display the same intolerance and bigotry towards America and it's inhabitants as you are trying to portray Americans as being.

Since I've been called out on semantics twice, and I do hate to pass an opportunity, I'd like to remind my dear American friends that the word "parliament", when used lower-case, denotes an institution whose elected or appointed members meet to debate the major political issues of the day and usually to exercise legislative powers and sometimes judicial powers. Therefore, it encompasses both the the German Bundestag, Polish Sejm and American Congress.
When used upper-case, the word Parliament stands for a specific legislative in a given country, eg. the Westminster Parliament in the UK.
While I wasn't aware of the peculiar details of the "wardrobe malfunction" incident, I do believe that regardless it does stand as a great example of how does US perceive public morality, and why there are not giant scrotum in Bestiary 3.

The power of the Media, A scary thing.
And every fool knows that not 100% of a country shares the same thoughts, I was just joking about some video's I've seen in the 80ties and 9oties which the Media in holland really blew up.
In that video we saw many, many Americans burning cd's like they were some possessed religious zeolots, scary, scary video.
Of course not the country or most of its people, but still a scary number of people, same with nipplegate.
But blame the media and Oprah, they always blow things up, and all that crying people in a TV show is really, really scary for non-american countries. :p
But again I have nothing against anyone, just thought the post I quoted was fun and recognizible.

And I say you're full of self-important poo :)
I couldn't give a rat's rear about wardrobe malfunctions, Melissa Etheridge CDs, or any other such crud, yet I also would prefer that the books that I might try to use to teach kids to play Pathfinder not include giant scrotums and such things.
Sure, we can all be proud of how adult and cosmopolitan we are, but then one day you're going to want to show a group of 8-year olds what a tanuki looks like. So I ask, is the giant scrotum really that necessary?
Let's save the nudity for the Book of Erotic Fantasy :)
Edit: By the way, I've lived in the US my whole life, and today was the very first time I heard of anyone burning CDs like that.
Then again, there is that one particular Chick tract that I've known about for a while ...

Are you talking about the same Bestiary that I've just downloaded? The one with the VERY kid-friendly Trollhound, Jotund Troll, Rusalka and skinless Ecorche in it? :p

Short version:
US public morality: SEX NO, VIOLENCE YES
EU public morality: SEX YES, VIOLENCE NO
That's a nutshell, but does tell why APG has the "Inquisitor disembowels a monster" artwork, while there are no nipples in Bestiaries.
Also, I'm not crying because Tanookis don't have giant scrotums.
Now, the nipples on the B1 Lillend on the other hand...
I would have no problems showing nipples to an 8-yr old. I would think twice before showing a fountain of blood and guts. And that's where the difference between Euros and Yankees lies.

The problem with all this is that balls are part of nature, people just made it bad parts that children and nobody should see...
Everybody is born naked so why are these parts such a big deal? They are really the same as arms, fingers, tongues and everything else... Why can you show a liver in a picture but not boobs, balls or a penis? Beats me.
Especially in a book full of gore, skinless horrors and things with huge and humongous teeth.
But again, the Tunaki is fine the way it is in Bestairy 3, but I don't get the rush op people that are SOO against sexual (not even sexual contact just the parts) content...
The world is a strange place, but I like it.

Also the statue spell would have a good spell-like ability for them.
Perhaps... but we pegged them at a relatively low CR, and as such piling high-level effects like statue and polymorph any object and the like onto them just wasn't appropriate.
A big part of translating mythological monsters into game stats is deciding what power level the monster is gonna occupy, and then doing what you can to make the monster's powers fit. The tanuki fits well at its CR, and that means a few of the more extravagant powers do not.
Doesn't mean there's no opportunity to do something like a greater tanuki or something similar in the future, of course.

To be clear: just because we didn't mention the tanuki's comically large testicles in the Bestiary write-up doesn't mean he doesn't have them... we just glossed over that particular part. In Dave Gross's "Husks" Pathfinder Journal, tanuki's famous endowments are directly pointed out (though not illustrated).
Tanuki's comical genitalia are a central part of his mythology, and we still intend to reflect that in Golarion.
Balls. Tee-hee.

I love your Pathfinder Tales fiction! The story from the Council of Thieves AP is what made me want to go out and buy pathfinder fiction. Count Varian Jeggare is my new favorite character in fantasy fiction. I love your work and can't wait to read more!

Sometimes things like these get passed over. Like the popobala (Popobawa of Pemba) and it's love of sodomy...
My second-favorite thing about tanuki, after their trickster attitude, is that in their native culture they are not considered the least bit obscene, just funny. What's funnier than magic shape-changing testicles?
Also, immortalized by Studio Ghibli. No higher accomplishment in human(oid) existence.

HAH!
Now suddenly I'm reminded of that one part of Johnny Dangerously ...
Okay, so they're comical instead of creepy old uncle-ish. Sure, I'm think I'm okay with that :)
Now for a wee bit of the old ultraviolence ...
