I was just wondering if someone could clarify how Divine Bond works for me.
If a Paladin has a +1 Sword and can give the weapon a +3 Enhancement Bonus, can they mix and match the +3 bonus between straight enhancement and special ability, or do they have to go all enhancement or all special ability.
Also, if you decide to give a Divine Bond a special ability, can you split up the +3 and give the weapon 3 +1 equivalent special abilities or are you only allowed to give it one special ability when you use Divine bond.
Thanks!

You can divide the bonus up however you choose, including multiple abilities and partial abilities / partial bonuses.
A paladin with a +1 sword and +3 worth of bonuses to spend can turn the weapon into any of the following:
+4
+3 defending
+3 flaming
+3 keen
+3 merciful
+2 defending flaming
+2 defending keen
+2 defending merciful
+2 flaming keen
+2 flaming merciful
+2 keen merciful
+2 axiomatic
+2 disruption
+2 flaming burst
+2 holy
+1 defending flaming keen
+1 defending flaming merciful
+1 defending keen merciful
+1 flaming keen merciful
+1 defending axiomatic
+1 defending disruption
+1 defending flaming burst
+1 defending holy
+1 flaming axiomatic
+1 flaming disruption
+1 flaming holy
+1 keen axiomatic
+1 keen disruption
+1 keen flaming burst
+1 keen holy
+1 merciful axiomatic
+1 merciful disruption
+1 merciful flaming burst
+1 merciful holy
+1 speed
One other important point -- these are the exact same options that the paladin would have if she had a +4 bonus to bestow on a nonmagical sword. The reason why is that to bestow a special ability requires the weapon to have at least a +1 bonus first. Thus, in the neither case can the +4 equivalent ability brilliant energy be used yet.
