How far can a character see during the day?

Rules Questions

With the introduction of guns in Ultimate Combat, I can get a a Rifle that fires 10 increments of 80 feet. With the Distance weapon enhancement, this lets me shoot a rifle up to 1600 feet(800 feet with no penalty). This brings up my question.

How does vision work into this? Pathfinder has very clearly defined rules for vision in low light and firing into dark areas, but if I were trying to hit a target in broad day light(or a guy standing right next to a light source), how far out can I see him?

Maximum perception range by terrain is in the corebook environment section.
Other than that, +1 to Perception DC for every 10', so to spot your target standing in an open field 1600' away would be DC 160, DC 80 for 800'. Without a feat or spell to improve long distance perception, your sniper will have to work with DM about some sort of spyglass scope.

Which is kinda dumb since techincly the average NFL quarterback couldn't see his recivere at the end of the field because of the -30 to his spot check.

Check with you DM but if something isn't trying not to be seen it shouldn't be too hard to see it now as for aiming and shooting thats what range penalties are for.

Obviously normal sight relies on size and contrast ... everyone can see literally for light-years when looking at the stars at night.

So it depends how your DM wants simulate it, or just go by the RAW mentioned above.

If something is in plain sight, you don't need a Perception check to see it. However, as Cult of Vorg mentioned, if you encounter an enemy you don't interact with them until they're within the encounter distance determined by terrain.
