Dazzling Blade and Ammuntion

Rules Questions

Can Dazzling Blade be cast on a piece of ammunition, e.g. an arrow?

Despite it's name, the target of the spell says "one metal weapon." I don't think ammunition counts as a weapon in this case, but it should work on a firearm or other metal weapon normally used for long range attacks.

If anything, you could cast it on a group of 50 pieces of ammo. That's the normal way to do this sort of thing (see Flame Arrow, that sort of thing)

That being said, pretty much every effect of this spell requires you to be in melee (+CMB, popping the light vs an adjacent opponent). It's not exactly a solid choice to use with ammo, so I don't see the issue allowing it

Fifty? Yeesh.

Here’s my thinking. Character casts Mass Dazzling Blades as a swift action on a number of (metal) shuriken equal to caster level. Character then takes free actions to draw those shurikens, make blinding attacks on an adjacent foes, then drop the shurikens. Doesn’t seem like too powerful an effect for a 3rd level spell--you could be Hasting the party, after all--but the awesome thing is you can still take a move or a full round action.

But if you can cast regular Dazzling Blades to get 50 blind attacks, or Mass Dazzling Blades to get 50 x level blind attacks, that seems like too much.

Do shuriken really enchant in stacks of 50?
I thought it was stacks of 10 or 20...

Ammo (including Shuriken enchant in 50s.

Your DM may also limit your number of free actions in order to do this. It is within DM discretion

Free actions don't take any time at all, though there may be limits to the number of free actions you can perform in a turn.
