My first Hirst Arts mold construction effort

- the fieldstone bridge

Unpainted as yet. Maybe I'll paint it tomorrow.

Sovereign Court

That's really spiffy. Makes me wish I had some molds and a garage / craft room :)

congrats on your new addiction....

Here it is painted.

I'm going to add some moss to it, but I've got other pressing things first, like building the 4" diameter tower...

Liberty's Edge

Nice work. It turned out rather well I think.

What plaster did you ultimately use?

I am currently using Excalibur for my "serious" casting efforts. But I'm running out of it rather rapidly I'm afraid...

I really like the Excalibur, even if it is a sort of a pain to deal with the sinkage.

merlins magic is much better in regards to shrinkage ....

excaliber is still awesome though..

I've had decent results with that "ArtPlaster" I found at Michaels. But I haven't been able to find any more. It was pretty cheap, about a dollar a pound, but with no shipping, that's not bad. It's not as heavy or as strong as the Excalibur of course, but it works well enough for some of the random terrain stuff I'm casting with it.

So far I've only used Excalibur in the Hirst molds. And I've been quite pleased with the results. I just need to find more.

I have not been able to get "brassbaboon" as a screen name on some other boards I've joined recently (which is insane really, I picked "brassbaboon" specifically because I couldn't believe anyone else would ever pick that name. It's a Roger Zelazny reference in case anyone is wondering....)

So I had to pick a new name for those boards and I think I'll stick to the new one and use it here too. So this is my new "avatar" on the Paizo boards, and I use it on Hirst and some other boards too.

I have been using Hydrostone of late there is a local place that sells it, so no shipping.

How good are the results with hydrostone? I plan on buying a 50lb bucket tomorrow....

I have had really good results with it and it is fairly inexpensive. I have found that a vibration table helps a lot for getting out any bubbles as well.
