Overheard and ominous

Advice

Ok, i could use some help. i need something ominous, auspicious-sounding and fairly general to be overhear from behind a locked door that the character has their ear to. basically it reveals that the two unrelated enemies of the group are in fact conspiring together, with the warlord the characters are hunting being mid-discussion with the more powerful but less numerous faction's ambassitor.
any thoughts, suggestions or the like? i could use the help, and give thanks in advance!

easy peasy.

"Have you heard the latest from X?"

or

"Did you receive the latest requisition request from X?"

The second is better if it's more about business than a personal vendetta against the group. The cruel, inhuman practicality of an invoice. :P

ah, lawful evil at its best. not sure it's quite right for the scene, but it's so simple i overlooked it. may yet be used.

"Are you sure we should risk meeting..."
"Those fools don't suspect a thing..."
"When are you going to deliver on your end of the bargain? After all, I took X risk to do Y for you." X and Y being recognizable as previous encounters to the PCs.
"Since we're allies, I want to avoid confrontations between our forces..."

he he he... this is going to be fun.

How about...

It picks up in the middle of a sentence and it is one of the people or his underling discussing a plan with an underling of the other person.

...now remember X must make his move at precisely midnight. That way we will surprise Z and be able to escape with the item...

Or some such...

Don't worry, my friend - when I pull off this amazing dirty trick, there's no way anyone will be able to trace it back to you!!

20 minutes of dramatic build up later - "I am the Viper! I 'ave come to vash your vindows!"
