the standard Nekogami, for those who don't mind this race, it's a little more minmaxy with the points, and if used alongside a lesser nekogami, should be trait taxed.

a few notes as the designer. i wouldn't reccomend a lesser and intermediate nekogami in the same group. if it must happen. i reccomend charging the intermediate a price of one of thier starting traits to make things a little more even.
i would also reccomend giving the Greater Nekogami a level adjustment of +1. and i would reccomend being careful of Nekogami Monks and Nekogami Battle Clerics using the Greater Nekogami. they may end up outshining other monks and battle clerics.
for the intermediate Nekogami, i would be Wary of Minmaxing Barbarians using this race. though not as disruptive with fighters, an intermediate Nekogami has crazy unexpected barbarian synergies compared to thier lesser counterparts.
P.S. Yes, i did design these races for mostly martial roles. we have quite a lot of races intended to be Casters. so i included some martial races for a change. you should most likely include extra social encounters if playing a Nekogami outside of Tian Xia.

Nekogami are the Biologically diluted mortal Descendants of Lady Shuriken of House Nekogami of the Minkai Empire. They are Typically Slight of frame with dark hair, yellow tinted skin, toned wiry muscles, and hazel hued eyes. They typically take the life of a monk, ninja, or fighter. Most Nekogami tend to be Vigorous with the ferocity of a Tiger in combat. They usually tend to live in human dominated sections within the Minkai empire and a few exist elsewhere. Female Nekogami are typically smaller in bust and rump as an adaption to increase their mobility. And due to the fact that male Nekogami have a hard time growing facial hair. Some of them take pride in what facial hair they have, protecting it with the vigor a lion has for his main. They are strong and agile, unlike what their wiry frames would suggest. They appear almost human, with the exception of their major feline mental tendencies. It’s the women that do the hunting and act as the dominant sex. And the men tend to protect the children and take over when their partner is incapacitated. They think like a predator, seeing their victims as prey to assist in sustaining them, are as Vigorous as a tiger, and tend to have conservative tendencies derived from a combination of their heightened metabolism, practical lifestyle, desire to avoid unwanted attention, and preference for comfortable, loose fitting garb. A simple robe usually suffices for either gender.
New Minor Deity. Nekogami Shuriken L/N
Nekogami Shuriken is the Child Goddess of Tigers, the Hunt, and pleasure Derived through Trial. She is of Lawful Neutral Alignment and is a Subcontractor of the gods, Irori, Erastil, and Zon Kuthon. In life, she was a human monk whom had reached godhood in her youth and is a minor Goddess. The gods refer to her as a “Child” in comparison to themselves. Because of both her apparent comparative youth, and her lack of comparative maturity. She started Adventuring at the Age of 14 and spent 2 years climbing the Ladder of power until she passed the test of the starstone at the age of 17.
Shuriken Nekogami’s Favored Weapon is the unarmed strike and Her domains are Darkness, Animal (Animal Companion must be a Tiger), Healing, and Liberation.

I think the only problem I have with the deity is that she just sounds a bit Mary Sue-like (and reminds me of Hitsugaya, the most overrated character in all of Bleach) what with being a child prodigy WHO PASSED THE TEST OF STARSTONE...
...then again, the racial stats seem fair aside from MAYBE the bonus feat (it makes many builds all the more amazing) and fast speed (it'll stack with speed bonus from Monk and if Ninja gave one, it'll stack with that too) but yeah. At least they don't have Powerful Build like my homebrew race does (then again, Powerful Build isn't really as horribly overpowered as some people claim) but that's a story for another time.

the backstory of the minor goddess was based off a freeform character i played when i was a lot younger. twas a character i recycled who got more mary sueish as she progressed. she was also a parody of the fact that one can get to 20th level extremely fast. so in pathfinder, "child prodigies" would be more common than one realizes. just start your adventure early enough, and you can become a god earlier.
14-17 isn't that young in Golarion, especially since 12 is an old enough age (at the assumed era) for a youth to become a soldier in thier nation's military.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

...point taken, but it still kinda reminds me of that darned brat from that one anime/manga who I used to actually like. Now I just wanna see him die, but knowing the series and the amount of rampant fangirls, that will NEVER happen.
Oh, sorry. I started to ramble out of frustration. But yeah, I guess what you said about child prodigies (and "child" soldiers) makes sense in context. Though now I wonder when will I find time to write up that Holstaur thread (and calculate in advance how many cow jokes will I run into, if any come up) as well as double-checking if anyone is even going to give a damned aside from complaining about Powerful Build.

Icyshadow |

It lets the character wield large weapons without penalties (Haste and other buffs are much better though), and gives a +1 Size Bonus to CMD as if the character was Large. I think they also count as Large for effects like Swallow Whole and Snatch so it's quite nice, but I don't think it's really overpowered considering you don't get Reach or any other insane thing with it.

nothing that's too bad. i would say that it's on par with a well selected feat. in some cases, slightly better.

Icyshadow |

I picked it more because it fits with the concept of a borderline large humanoid with links to both Humans and Minotaurs. Also, I find it sad that the stigma that affects Powerful Build is mostly due to it being linked to the munchkin-bait Goliath race (I think it had Powerful Build AND +4 Strength with only +1 Level Adjustment, and that's pretty insane)

Icyshadow |

I am well-aware of that.
Anyway, sorry for the off-topic question, but what kind of penalties should Hooved Feet impose in your opinion? A friend suggested penalties to Stealth (not good to sneak around with hooved feet, which makes it funny how a Minotaur might try to sneak up on someone) and to certain types of Climb / Athletics checks, and I do NOT really agree with the Advanced Race Guide version of the Hooved Feet racial. Hell, they can't even use Magical Horseshoes because those require all four to be worn by the one using them!!

Icyshadow |

Do elaborate what you mean by Social Penalty. Holstaurs already have horns on their heads, a bovine tail AND hooves, so I think having hooved feet is only part of the problem if appearances are the matter. And like I said, magical horseshoes do not work by RAW unless you have four hooved feet and put one horseshoe in each foot, meaning my race or a Minotaur couldn't use them, but a Centaur could.

by social penalty, i mean being unable to wear normal shoes and having to commission custom footwear. which could be dependant on the setting or enviroment. the social part would be gathering information and estabilishing connections to help you find someone willing to take the commission. which could have "finder's fees" of the DM's preference. same penalties i would inflict on anyone searching for custom equipment of the nonstandard variety for a given region. like the Japanese Schoolgirl searching for a magic katana in the middle of France as an example.

i reworked the modifiers, but dropped the bonus feat in favor of natural armor. it's still a powerful martial race, but that was the intent. it's 10 points even with only a single advanced ability that shouldn't have been advanced to begin with. now it shouldn't step too hard on human toes.
