Best Mounts for a Gnome Cavalier(Beastmaster)

Advice

I'm working on a build for a Gnome Cavalier with the Beast Rider archetype. I haven't used an animal companion yet in Pathfinder, and I'm having trouble deciding what mount might be best. What do you suggest?

.

.
A small Beast Rider may select from the following mounts:

  • At 1st level - pony or wolf (I'd go with wolf.)

  • At 4th level - allosaurus, ankylosaurus, arsinoitherium, aurochs, bison, boar, brachiosaurus, elephant, glyptodon, hippopotamus, mastodon, megaloceros, riding dog, snapping turtle (giant), triceratops, or tyrannosaurus

  • At 7th level - he can also choose a velociraptor

What order are you going?

Probably Order of the Sword, but that's flexible.

I'd start with wolf then move on to Tyrannosaurus when feasible. It has the highest potential strength which you'll want so you can add it to your own charge attacks. Even small sized you'll hit like beast.

I would look for a way to get a flying mount if at all possible.

Unfortunately, "A beast rider cannot choose a mount that is not capable of bearing his weight, that has fewer than four legs, or that has a fly speed."

No one said you can't obtain it other ways. And non of the cavalier abilities say you have to be on your own mount to make them work. :)
