Special Abilities

Acid (Ex) A gelatinous cube's acid does not harm metal or stone.
Engulf (Ex) Although it moves slowly, a gelatinous cube can simply engulf Large or smaller creatures in its path as a standard action. It cannot make a slam attack during a round in which it engulfs. The gelatinous cube merely has to move over the opponents, affecting as many as it can cover. Opponents can make attacks of opportunity against the cube, but if they do so they are not entitled to a saving throw. Those who do not attempt attacks of opportunity can attempt a DC 30 Reflex save to avoid being engulfed-on a success, they are pushed back or aside (opponent's choice) as the cube moves forward. Engulfed creatures are subject to the cube's paralysis and acid, gain the pinned condition, are in danger of suffocating, and are trapped within its body until they are no longer pinned. The save DC is Strength-based.
Paralysis (Ex) A gelatinous cube secretes an anesthetizing slime. A target hit by a cube's melee or engulf attack must succeed on a DC 31 Fortitude save or be paralyzed for 3d6 rounds. The cube can automatically engulf a paralyzed opponent. The save DC is Constitution-based.
Transparent (Ex) Due to its lack of coloration, a gelatinous cube is difficult to discern. A DC 3 Perception check is required to notice a motionless gelatinous cube. Any creature that fails to notice a gelatinous cube and walks into it is automatically engulfed.

I think that's it. Anything I missed?

Nothing? What if I promise to post stats of Lars, the semi-intelligent gelatinous cube?

I think it need DR, specially against arrows

Dark Archive

Yeah, DR 15/slashing would make it beastly.

While it's not particularly RAW, you might want to find a way to increase its blindsense, because 60' isn't particularly impressive when you're 60' around.

Also, I'm totally up for meeting Lars.

Also, you have a fantastic name. However it's wrong. You put a "the" where there should be an "a". I'm just sayin'. :D

Otherwise... are you asking for advice, critiques, suggestions? You're opening statement's a bit vague.

The Exchange

So let me get this strait... A gigantic Cube of pure awesomeness is found in small caves and places like such, and that even if the party were to kill it, they could not get past it due to its gelatinous bodaciousness. Where have you been all my life? I should have a cult worshipping this cube. If Lars could talk, its words would be remembered, except that they would probably sound like "Bluagh Bluagh Bluagh Bluagh, Bluagh Bluagh BLUAGH BLUAGH BLUAGH!" *starts to make a squishy laugh.* Thankyou, the David, thankyou.

Sczarni

I'm sort of tempted to explore what happens when four of these manage to surround a party of PCs in a 60'x60' impenetrable cell of gel.

Or arrange for an army of abberations to unleash one on an unsuspecting city, and give the PCs siege weapons to deal with it.

I think you did a great job! I can't think of anything else it needs.

Well, it needs a Challenge Rating, so that would be a good start.

A Colossal Gelatinous Cube is meant to wander around halls that are slightly larger than the average cave. It's more of a mega-dungeon encounter.

As for Lars, he's a character I played last week in a Fiasco game. He was a big blond fighter-type who was accidentally enthralled by the apprentice of some sorcerer. Things went from downhill quickly when he found a ring of cursed wishes. He wished for some dessert, and wouldn't you know, it landed right on top of him. Something went horribly wrong as the big dumb fighter's mind fused with that of the Gelatinous Cube.
Lars died when he stopped by a tavern for a beer.

And really, it's the semi-intelligent gelatinous cube, as there is only one gelatinous cube that is semi-intelligent.

Personally, I think its completely AWESOME.....

Also here is something somewhat related but is more of just a shameless plug of one of my all time favourite creations that has enflamed my passions of late and is somewhat relevant to this conversation

I rather think he would say "Me Lars. Ba-chomp, Ba-chooy-chomp, Ba-chooy-chomp"

Hahah, likely true! I meant in your name (aka the "the" in "the David"), not in Lars' title! And thanks for the introduction! :)

As far as CR, although it's gargantuan and has high hit dice, the critter presented here is not too potent, all things considered. I'd put his CR about 10, but that's just an eyeball guesstimate and it might be lower. The fortitude DC is fabulously high, but at the end of the day, what we're looking at is a big, dumb very slow block of acid jello, and, as awesome as that is, it's not the most powerful thing. I could look and think a bit more and maybe give a better one, if you wanted, later. And one of its most dangerous abilities - transparency - is rendered moot by its great size.

One thing to mention is that with the DR/slashing suggested, that would up its CR. I'm not sure where you got the calculations for its size, but adding the advanced template would help strengthen it a lot.

I'm not sure of the over-all threat level you want this thing to inspire, though, so I'm kind of spit-balling here. I do like it, though. :)
