Are there any items that add penalties or bonuses directly to a character's Combat Maneuver Bonus? If not, what do you suppose the design thinking is behind their absence?
I'm not aware of any (unless you count things for specific maneuvers, like the Disarm weapon property).
Note that bonuses to attack rolls typically apply to combat maneuvers by default.
Anything that applies to all your attack rolls (such as Bless or Inspire Courage) will apply to all your combat maneuvers unless there's some good reason for it not to.
Anything that applies to your attack rolls with a specific weapon (such as Weapon Focus, your weapon's enhancement bonus, etc) will apply to any combat maneuvers which use that weapon. Disarm, sunder and trip maneuvers employ your weapon and get these bonuses; a weapon with the Trip weapon quality can also be used to deliver a drag or reposition maneuver and will therefore allow the application of these bonuses. All other maneuvers (and drag/reposition if you don't have a Trip weapon) are done without weapons and receive no weapon-specific bonuses. (Note, however, that Weapon Focus: Grapple exists.)

Interesting. I think I've misunderstood CMB calculation, perhaps. Where are the rules stating that weapon enhancement bonuses and the other things y'all have listed apply to CMB? Thanks!
In the rules for CMB, in the combat chapter of the Core Rulebook. Also available on the PRD.

Performing a Combat Maneuver: "When you attempt to perform a combat maneuver, make an attack roll and add your CMB in place of your normal attack bonus. Add any bonuses you currently have on attack rolls due to spells, feats, and other effects. These bonuses must be applicable to the weapon or attack used to perform the maneuver."
Also, this blog post may be informative.

If you're using the ioun stone rules from Seekers of Secrets, there's a resonance that can come into existence when slotting a ioun stone into a wayfinder that grants a +2 bonus to CMB and CMD.

Dueling Weapons add twice their enhancement bonus to maneuvers with which the weapon is used. What this means, is that a Dueling Weapon with the Trip quality actually adds three times it's enhancement bonus overall to Trip, Drag, Disarm, Sunder, and Reposition.

@Zaister: That sounds awesome! Do you know what Ioun Stone this is? And if it's legal for PFS play? :) ...and I'm guessing it's not part of the PRD, since I can't find it there... Is it only listed in Seeker of Secrets?
@Kyrt-ryder: That sounds broken. That means a dueling weapon +5 adds +15 on your CMB? Is this really correct? The link seems fine, it just sounds crazy... ...and do you know if this is legal for PFS play? ;)

Seekers of Secrets has a huge (i.e. ~100 entries) table of random resonance effect that occur when a ioun stone (regardless of type) is inserted into a wayfinder. The effect is determined randomly. I don't know about PFS-Legality, though, and these rules are only in this book.
