I'm not sure what's in this for Paizo. It sounds like a bunch of changes to our already overly-complex commerce to track and maintain this information throughout the order processing process, changes that are likely to introduce new bugs. But I'm willing to listen if someone wants to make a case for it.

Yeah I'm not sure Paizo would gain anything from it, but if something WERE implemented, I wonder if just a simple free-form text box where the user might be prompted to enter where they heard about the product from or something. This info would go to whomever the publisher is who's product is being purchased. In any event though, I don't know that it would be worth Paizo's time and energy.

It would allow for better targeted marketing, which increases my sales at paizo which mean paizo makes more $
If I link to Paizo vs. say Drivethrurpg if sales increase over drivethrurpg because of these links I would point more sales this way which increases my sales at paizo which mean paizo makes more $
I can't speak to the coding time and if that amount of $ is worth it to Paizo. I just know Drivethru/Rpgnow already has this ability.
