We've just gotten a figurine of wonderous power.
It is a tiger. (Works just like the paired golden lions but only 1 and stats for a normal tiger.)
1) Does the hours use have to be continuous or can I shrink and enlarge it for each fight all day long?
2) How much direction can I give it? Can I tell it to sneak around the shack and come up on the ogre from behind? If not, can I do that if I use magic to be able to speak with it?
3) Can my halfling ride the tiger as a mount?

ad 1) It can be used *once* per day for up to 1 hour. So you can use it once per day and that period can be 1 hour long tops.
ad 2)+3) It becomes a normal tiger that understands and obeys you so you automatically succeed at Handle Animal checks to get it to perform anything it is physically able to do.
At least that is how we run the Golden Lions in my game.

Continuous, as noted.

You don't need magic to speak to it. As per the rules:
"Unless stated otherwise, the creature understands Common but does not speak."
3) Can my halfling ride the tiger as a mount?
Ask your GM. I've seen two different rulings: one GM said sure, go ahead, and one GM said that the creature is essentially a wild animal and is not trained for riding.

But is it smart enough to comprehend instructions like the above?

I'm pretty sure that a tiger would understand the concept of sneaking up on someone. But your GM might disagree, of course.
It has regular tiger intelligence, if that's what you're asking. There are exceptions, though; the Onyx Dog has human intelligence, for instance.

Hmmm... I would guess a tiger understands sneaking up on a target, but maybe not going around a shack and what an ogre is. I will check with my GM.
Thanks guys.
