(I posted this question in a different thread, but it was the wrong thread and got buried, so I'm reporting it here.)
How do the erratas for a book affect the layout of previous versions of that book?
I have the PDF of the CRB and I am thinking of printing it out. Instead of reprinting the entire book each time a new printing comes out, I am thinking of only printing those pages that have changes. I am wondering though, is if there is a change on "page 100", can I just print page 100 (and the opposite page of course) or will I have to print the rest of that chapter to account for the sentence that has been added into page 100?
I hope I've asked my question clearly enough, I'm not sure what terminology I should be using; typesetting, maybe?

We work really, really hard to make sure that changes to the books don't affect the positioning of headers in any way, so that page references remain consistent. Sometimes a sentence may break across a page in a different part of the sentence, but it shouldn't affect page references.
For example, the 5th printing update says:
Page 182—In the Attack section, in the Natural Attacks section, in the third paragraph, delete the following two sentences: “In addition, all of your attacks made with melee weapons and unarmed strikes are made as if you were two-weapon fighting. Your natural attacks are treated as light, off-hand weapons for determining the penalty to your other attacks.”
In the 4th printing, this paragraph started at the bottom of page 182 and ran over to page 184 (skipping 183, which is a page of tables). In the 5th printing, that paragraph starts and ends on page 184. In both printings, the next header is Multiple Attacks, and it starts on page 184 (it just starts a little higher in the 5th printing), and the paragraph spacing was adjusted later on page 184 so both printings otherwise have the same content on that page.
So, to answer your question, you can just print the relevant page, but you may have to check the end-of-page/start-of-page breaks to make sure the sentence crossing from one page to the other hasn't shifted a little bit.

I already have a book. I just want a copy of the book that is current and up to date, but don't want to purchase a new book for every printing. I figured I would take the hit to print it once, and just print out the updated pages for future printings. Although I haven't checked to see how much it would cost to print, so maybe I'll find out its too much of a hit after all.

So here's my question. What's the most efficient way people have found to add errata to their printed copies. Obviously, someone with First Edition would just want to buy a the latest Edition, but someone who is only one Edition behind may find it more feasible to add the changes himself/herself. Of course, accounting for header movement may be a bit tasking, but I would think overall the cost of buying a book, especially to somewhat new players, would extend if the errata was added manually.
Thoughts?
