Ok, Arcane sight lets you instantly detect magic as an always on ability. You get the full 3 rounds on anything within 120'.
This spell makes your eyes glow blue and allows you to see magical auras within 120 feet of you. The effect is similar to that of a detect magic spell, but arcane sight does not require concentration and discerns aura location and power more quickly. You know the location and power of all magical auras within your sight.
So a Rogue with his usual magical equipment tries to sneak up on a wizard with this active. Can he possibly succeed without ridding himself of his ring items which USUALLY help him stealth.
What about if he drops all items and hsi friendly mage casts invisibility on him?
Would it matter if he was a ranger or shadowdancer with hide in plain sight?
Right now it looks like Arcane Sight either trumps stealth, or makes the people sneak in without gear to be slaughtered by the fully geared party.

If a rogue is using stealth then he is not in the wizard's line of sight unless the wizard succeeds on the perception check. The spell only gives you information on auras within your sight.
If you can't see the rogue he's not in your sight, therefore you gain no information about the rogue's magical auras.

This. Since you can't be stealthed without cover of some form, the cover would keep him from spotting you (even as you stealthed towards him, provided you didn't end your turn exposed). Invisiblity would be like turning a spotlight on yourself, though (although he wouldn't be able to distinguish it from any other mobile illusion). I'm not sure about hide in plain sight, though.

The question though is the Aura within your sight. As for wether the rogue is it could be said he is in your sight, you just do not recognize him as such.
Take a sniper in a Ghilie suit. He is 30' away form you and you do not see him. He is technically in your sight, you just do not recognize him as a threat. However if his gun is magical THAT would give off an aura that Arcane Sight would see.
Also Detect Magic does not have wording that requires sight.
Similar question for Drow Noble with there constant "Detect magic".
Background I am putting together a rogue who is paranoid when stealthing. I suspect he would need to NOT use any magic items to pull this off by RAW.

As I see it this should end up being a case by case basis sort of thing. Is the rogue using cover to hide from the wizard? If yes, then he should be able to hide from the arcane sight spell. If, however, the rogue is able to hide because of lighting conditions or due to other factors that effectively render him "not noticed" as opposed to being behind something then I would think that the arcane sight spell would pick up on his gear.
For those rogues who are truly paranoid about this sort of thing I would suggest the sniper archetype. Works especially well for half orcs (or dwarves) with deepsight.
