Rogue's resiliency -- include shadowdancer levels?

Resiliencey: Once per day, a rogue with this ability can gain a number of temporary hit points equal to the rogue's level. Activating this ability is an immediate action that can only be performed when she is brought to below 0 hit points.

Say my PC is a Rog 6/Shadowdancer 3. If he takes this, does he gain six hp or nine?

Wow, good question. The language isn't clear. If he got it from the rogue levels, then it'd be 6 I think. If from shadowdancer, then 3. Strict reading of course, but I believe RAI is 9. Or rather, the intent based on other similar abilities.

It doesn't say class levels, so I'd be inclined to include all levels (even levels in Barbarian, Sorcerer or whatever).

Or, at the very least to include all levels in classes that gain rogue talents, such as Shadowdancer.

It’s quite clear:
Once per day, a rogue with this ability can gain a number of temporary hit points equal to the ROGUE’S level.

If they wanted it to be character level , it’d say Once per day, a rogue with this ability can gain a number of temporary hit points equal to the character's level.

DrDeths interpretation seems correct to me, and I can't understand that it caused confusion.

However it seems that the intent could be prestige classes qualified by a rogue do count, it's a rare case anyway. Feel free to house rule otherwise, rogue need a little love.

The confusion stems from the fact that shadow dancers get poorly worded rogue talents:

At 3rd level, and every three levels thereafter, a shadowdancer gains a special ability that allows her to confound her foes. This functions as the rogue talent class feature. A shadowdancer cannot select an individual talent more than once. If a shadowdancer has the advanced talents rogue class feature, she can chose from the advanced talents list instead.

So you could easily have a bard/shadowdancer with rogue talents that are based on his rogue level of 0.
