Reincarnate without humaniods.

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

Reincarnate has a table set for humaniods, but what about native outsiders? There are many PC available races that are not of the humaniod type, how are they effected by this spell?

I believe that the official word is that the DM is encouraged to create his or her own lists to accommodate other creature types.

Perhaps the Race Builder book will provide some, but in the meantime, you'll have to put together something of your own if you anticipate it coming up.

Grand Lodge

The Reincarnate spell table doesn't accommodate everything possible from the Core Rules, much less the game expansions. It was never meant to. s

You've got two choices.

1. Add a couple of new options and swap a few out.

2. Keep some private choices as GM reserved for that lucky(?) soul who draws an 00 roll.

Grand Lodge

Hopefully the new race book will indeed have a new table.

The really quick and dirty way is count the number of outsider (natives) in the Bestiaries and roll a dice similar to that (with anything "over" that number on the dice rolled being treated as if a result of "00").

Other than that, make your own tables. I did for 3.0 and it was great.

Dark Archive

2 people marked this as a favorite.

A table with Aasimar, Tiefling, Suli, Ifrit, Oread, Sylph, Undine and Fetch as the 'normal' options, and the standard races (but modified with either the celestial or fiendish template) as an 'exotic' option could be funky. Your aasimar might be reincarnated as a sylph or a fiendish dwarf!

I might swap some of the normal races with some of the new native outsider races, but otherwise I would use the normal chart.

I my book, it just makes the most sense, given that an aasimar or tiefling is mostly human, with a dash of outsider (1/4 or less).

Grand Lodge

I think I will create a list with a number of native outsider races and run it by my DM.

If you want an even more "out there" list you could look up the old druid reincarnation tables from 1-2e. They were mostly animals. The humanoids were on the wizard reincarnate list, back when it was also a wizard spell.
