I am playing a homebrew of PF Kingmaker. My Holy Gun/Spellslinger/Gunslinger had the soul of a Peryton from an egg imbued into one of his guns.The Peryton wants to redeem itself and become a servant of Iomedae, which my Holy Gun etc. is a Paladin for.
My DM used the example of the gun with the Peryton soul being a pit bull puppy in Michael Vick's dog operation.
My character has the feat of craft magic arms & armor. How do I teach the intelligent gun different abilities etc.?
Any suggestions?
Sounds like your GM wants to use rules similar to animal handling for the intelligent item. As such, it's really up to the GM. Typically, an intelligent item is complete when a character gets ahold of it.
The other thing is, most intelligent items have real intelligence, not animal intelligence (Int 2 or so). As such, they would be more like a cohort or hireling than an animal.
Also, not sure where crafting comes into it. The holy gun has already been created, and apparently made intelligent ... are you saying that it's intelligent but no abilities have been assigned yet?
In any event, it all depends what the purpose is. If the question is "what are its abilities?" the GM can just use the intelligent item tables. If the question is "how can it gain abilities in a cool roleplaying way?" I'd say wait for events in the campaign and have it "learn" from them. Not strictly RAW, but definitely in keeping with that intent.
