Pathfinder Society

I am making a character for a Pathfinder Society game and wanted to double check some of my options to makesure they are allowed in Society play.

Is the feat Keen Scent allowed in Society play
Is the item the Skeleton Key allowed in Society Play.

Honestly, I've been thinking about joining some PFS games, if only to see how they go. I have a personal preference for home games, but the concept of the PFS intrigues me.

So I don't start a new thread, I apologize for semi-thread jacking yours, I'll ask here.

Can someone link me to a good place to start for the rules on PFS?

Also, good luck on your PFS play northbrb. Or, if you've played already, good luck on that particular adventure xD.

i dont mind your simi-threadjack lol. i will be doing my first PFS this saterday.

to the latter: go to the guide (left menu). It is a free download.
still working on the former though the answer will be similar: look at additional resources :)

Cool, thanks Curaigh.

happened to find the list of what is apparently legal and not legal... I am now ultra sad panda my cross-blooded envenomed/pestilence wildblooded elf is not legal. I really wanted to play my poisoner. (at least I'm assuming the wildblood and crossblood archetypes are in chapter 2 of UM. I use SRD for it, havent managed to get the book yet).

Good luck on the game on saturday man. From what you're asking about I'm going to guess some sort of half-orc rogue or inquisitor?

Half-orc Barbarian, i just love scent and the skeleton key is just good sense when you can not assume there will be a rogue.

Where from be the skeleton key?
keen scent is from the APG, and according to the additional resources pageall but the listed feets are allowed (and it is not listed :)

The Skeleton Key is in the Adventurers Armory

Only the 2nd printing of this book or the 1st printing augmented by the current errata (released 7/21/11) are legal for play in Pathfinder Society Organized Play. Everything in this book is legal for play with the following two exceptions: a pseudodragon is not legal for purchase unless you're a wizard with the Improved Familiar feat and elephants are never legal for play.

The skeleton key appears to be allowed.

Dang, I must be tired. it took me too long to find what is right in front of me (kept typing wrongly in ctrl-f :)

from the guide:

Spoiler:

All mundane (completely nonmagical) weapons, armor, equipment, and alchemical gear found in any other source that is legal for play are
considered always available.

from the additional resources:

Spoiler:
Pathfinder Player Companion: Adventurer's Armory ...

Please double check my work, but (unless it is magical) it looks legit.

Have fun this weekend :)

EDIT: ninjad by starglim ( also: wtf elephants are never legal for play? :)

Archetypes are in Chapter 1 (Spellcasters) of UM. Chapter 2 includes stuff like Words of Power.

Elephants bought from the Adventurer's Armory anyway. A druid can get an elephant, mastodon or mammoth companion from the Bestiary. It's also legal for a 4th level beast rider cavalier.

lol. Actually I was hoping to play an elephant druid, or have a pachyderm familiar perched on my wizard's shoulder, or an BBElephantG :)

When I go to a PFS event do I need my PFS card printed out with me or will all iI need is my PFS ID number, I ask because I do not have a printer.

Usually just your number is good enough. Make sure you have your character number as well (i.e. your first character is your number followed by a -1 second -2 and so on).

I hope you have fun and welcome to PFS.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I've had two PFS experiences now and while enjoyable are comparable to a meal at McDonalds.

The PFS games I played are generally themed so as to fit all comers, not overly complex, somewhat filling but a bit lacking in the same feeling that a home cooked meal would give.

Which actually is a sort of complement here. It can be VERY hard to cook for strangers, even more so when you aren't even sure how the dinner guests will even interact with each other, let alone what they want to eat.

I prefer my 'home cooked meals' but for a guy away from home and hungry to play, PFS games at least are pleasant on the tongue and leaves you feeling somewhat satiated.

I've heard that some adventures can be real tough. I don't have the experience to say that is the case as yet - so far so good here.

Being an organized play entity, You'll be required to fill out on a "sign-in" sheet with your character number, character name, and faction that your character is part of.
