So were watching Casino Royale and the debate started on what would be the optimum character class for bond.
Rogue: lots of skills but sneak attack did not seem right.
Bard: has the skills and the charm but lacks the fighting ability.
Monk: has the fighting ability and skills, but doesn't seem right.
Inquisitor: the fluff is good, but the special abilities don't match overly well.
Fighter: has the fighting ability but not enough skills.
What are your opinions?

For the Craig bond. Multiclass fighter/thief about 3 to 1 in favor of fighter.
The Brosnon Bond will not be mentioned in my presence. He is dead to me.
For the Dalton Bond. Thief/fighter say 1.5 thief to every one fighter.
For the Roger Moore Bond. Archeologist bard. spells become gadgets
For the Lazenby Bond. Bard.
For the Connery Bond Fighter. High CHA but fighter all the way through.

It's a joke referencing the thread about Batman's alignment that went off the deep end. I highly recommend no one follows suite about James Bond.

3.5e assassin works pretty well -- you get the skills, the death attack, and pretend the spells are granted by Q branch.
Ah...that takes me back to the pre-Internet days when people would debate whether James Bond was a good-aligned (AD&D) assassin in the Dragon magazine letters column...

Gunslinger. Mysterious stranger archetype. High Cha and Int for skills (the skill list quite fits Mr Bond. Just use the Suspicious trait to get Sense Motive.)
Later, you may get into Master Spy if you wish.
I like this. Give him a bunch of tech (read: magic items) from Q and he's set.

Yeah. Quick draft assuming Human Gunslinger 7/Master Spy 1, 25 point buy.
STR -10
DEX -14
CON -14
INT -16
CHA -18
WIS -12
BAB +6/+1
+18 Bluff
+16 Disguise, +26 if you spend Grit! And you can disguise in half the time, etc. Very good.
+13 Sense motive
+15 UMD
+12 Perception (human skill points)
3 other skills maxed out. (assuming the favored class bonus is spent on hp)
Will +8
Reflex +8
Fortitude +7
Grit: 4
And you still have 3 spare feats and 3 deeds to choose. Not bad. You make a good face, can handle yourself in combat.
I don't know. Maybe a two level dip in rogue to grab UMD, trapfinding, evasion and a feat/talent would be better to model Bond.
