Updated polymorph spells in the new bestiaries?

Product Discussion

We've got a second Bestiary out, and are soon to get a third.

With all the new monsters introduced, there's got to be a lot more abilities some monsters have that simply weren't covered by the original shapechanging spells simply because those abilities haven't been created yet.

How likely is it that a section could be added to the appendices of future Bestiaries to have updated information for polymorphing for an curious transmuter?

The polymorph spells are based on creature type, since the core book they added monstrous humanoid type and undead type to the things you could polumorph into.

I don't expect Outsider (as a group) or Aberrant to make it into polymorphable forms...

Hmm, what's left?

Aberration — Likely Never
Animal — Core: Beast Shape
Construct — Likely never
Dragon — Core: Dragon Form
Fey — ???
Humanoid — Core: Alter Self, Giant Form
Magical Beast — Core: Beast Shape
Monstrous Humanoid — Ultimate Magic, forget the spell name
Oooze — ?Unlikely?
Outsider — Not as a group but Elementals are covered in core
Plant — Core: Plant Shape
Reptilian — ?? Maybe some supplement?
Undead — In Ultimate magic Undead Form
Vermin — Ultimate Magic Vermin Shape

So there are a few fairly minor holes. I guess the generic Polymorph spell needs to be updated also, not sure that is going to happen any time soon though.

I think the OP means an updated list of special abilities that the polymorph spells can grant, not monster types.

Personally I'd think that might be by design. The infinantly growing list of capabilities that expands every time a new Monster Manual came out is part of what made poly-morph so broken in 3.5. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if they intend to keep it's abilities where they are at, rather then continue to boost the spell every new bestiary.

I just want Polymorph spells for Fey and Aberation, Maybe Construct and Outsiders as well. The Outsider one could be broken up by subtypes like Azata, Daemon, Proteon, etc. or based on alignment.

As far as new abilities added to the spells I would say no. But I would like new summoning spells though.

Ultimate Magic has several summoning spells for creatures not on the Summon Monster or Summon Nature's Ally lists in the core rulebook.

I guess some examples might help then. I didn't realize there were a ton of new monster special abilities introduced in B2 that were super appealing.

Cave Druids can wild shape into oozes, but it's pretty underwhelming - most ooze special abilities aren't avaiable to the beast form series of spells, which is what "ooze shape" is based off of. Mostly you get grab. Also, it's strange to become an ooze and get a Dex bonus.

You do get crit immunity though.

And half the time, no way to see. 8(
