I have recently been trying to design a Drow Noble Character as of late. I have already designed his "Character Aspects" however now its crunch time to actually mane the guy's identity on paper and I've been having a hard time picking any particular class for him.
Objectives: Overall he's supposed to be somewhat of an assassin who hunts down and murder's his fellow drow, particularly the clergy. He himself has no religious affiliations and overall he views other people as inferior and only allies himself with other adventurers when he deems it nescicary. He is willing to use any means nescicary to kill his targets from poisons, knives, duels, and other sneaky skills. He prefers to also prevent his enemies from using magic.
Current ideas for classes
Alchemist
Bard (Dervish Dancer)
Fighter (Cad or Mobile Fighter)
Magus (Hex Crafter or Myrmidarch)
Ninja
Ranger (Deep Walker)
Rogue (normal, Roof Runner, or Knife master)
Wizard (Arcane Bomber)
Preffered weapons
Rapier, several knives or other thrown weapon, light crossbow
please help me decide.

Personally I'd go with either Ranger, Rogue or Ninja although all of these classes are capable of filling the assassin role quite well.
Ninjas get neat little combat tricks that help them be all stealthy and assassin like. Rogues too but to a lesser extent from what I've seen. When I think rogue I think thieves like Locke from Final Fantasy 6, quick and cunning characters but generally not back stabby assasin types like Shadow from the same game.
Rangers get the advantage of being able to specialize in slaying drow with favored enemy reinforcing your characters hatred for them though this can easily be achieved with role playing. And you get a pet. A f%%&ing pet. Did I mention you get a cool pet? Just making sure. Oh and you can shoot them full of arrows from a distance all sniper style, that's assasinish right?
I could see Magus working out as well if built as a dervish dancer in order to take advantage of dex since I assume you'd be sneaking around a lot. Better synergy imo.
That said, these are just my opinions and should be taken with a grain of salt.
Hope it helps.

Ranger would be nice, though I'm not sure what type of pet he would get to avoid being called a Drizz't knockoff.
Also I think that using a magus and playing him as a dervish would also fit him well and would work better if he were a hexcrafter, that way he'd be an expert at tormenting his foes and avoiding them, as well as disrupting thier magic.
as for ninja's, forget I mentioned them, it wouldn't work for him.
now iff only I could somehow make explossives...I think Craft(alchemy) would work best for that
