So let's say some wizard were to advance to level 7 using the Infernal Binder archetype for Conjurers. At that level he gains an Imp Improved Familiar. At level 8 he begins taking levels in the Diabolist prestige class. At level 1 of Diabolist he gains an Imp [acts-like-an-Animal] Companion. My question is: how do these class features interact? Is the Improved Familiar dismissed in favor of the Companion? Is the Companion unavailable thanks to previously having the Improved Familiar? Does the Improved Familiar gain the Companion bonuses as well as its own? Does the wizard summon a second Imp, who gets the Companion bonuses, in addition to his Improved Familiar?

Other, semi-related question. Is the Diabolist requirement "Must have conjured a devil using lesser planar ally or lesser planar binding (or a similar spell) and successfully coaxed the fiend into performing a task longer than 1 day" a "roleplaying requirement" like the ones mentioned in the Guide to Organized Play, and thus waived?

zimmerwald,
My understanding is that, yes, that requirement is waived.
ThornDJL7, my understanding has been that a PC can have only one combat companion / familiar / mount / pet active. But if, say, a wizard / druid's animal companion were killed, that would free up the familiar to attack until the character called another animal companion.

You must summon a Devil in the presence of Mike Brock and convince it for the day to Edit Season 0 Scenarios and convert them to Pathfinder RPG.
If that fails and the Devil decides to instead eat Mike Brock you must summon another Devil to replace him as Head of PFS...;)

How many animals can I have at any given time?
During the course of a scenario, you may have one combat animal and as many noncombat animals as you like. Noncombat animals (ponies, horses, pet dogs, and so on) cannot participate in combat at all. If you have so many noncombat animals that their presence is slowing a session down, the GM has the right to ask you to select one noncombat animal and leave the rest behind. A summoner's eidolon is considered an animal companion for the purposes of counting combat and noncombat animals. If you have more than one class-granted animal companion (or eidolon), you must choose which will be considered the combat animal at the start of the scenario. In general, a mount, a familiar or mundane pet, and your class-granted animal(s) are acceptable, but more than that can be disruptive.
From that, I don't think you'd be able to switch during the scenario, even if the animal died.
What I'm wondering, I have a Saurian Shaman, who's planning on taking a compy familiar at 3rd lvl with Eldritch Heritage. I know the compy won't be used as a combat animal, but do I still get the bonuses from it? Alertness and +4 init? I'm guessing yes, and that it just means he can't attack, but I wanted to make sure, since I thought of it.

As long as you can cast the spell AND pay the gold you're fine. See here

Nope, scrolls don't work and the 5PP and the 500 gold don't work either, your character needs to have the class ability to conjure the devil himself.

As much as we joke about that, I wonder if there is anything we can really do to help out. Converting old scenarios isn't that important in the greater scheme of PFS, but it is still something that would be awesome for new groups to play through the older plots and get up to speed (without all the confusion of spliced timelines). Oh well.

The single biggest help members of the campaign can be in this regard is to spread Pathfinder Society and help the campaign grow. The largest reason these have not been updated, redeveloped, re-laid-out, edited and rereleased is simply that we don't have the internal resources to do that given our day-to-day workloads. It's something we're striving for, and steps have been taken to increase the speed at which we can tackle this project. But if Pathfinder Society Organized Play doubled in size, it would be much easier for us to grow the department working on it by hiring additional developers. So by playing and reporting and bringing new people into the campaign, you actually are helping, in a roundabout sort of way.

Can you summon a Devil?... ;)
I think I still have my ex-wife's number, let's see...

Thank you for the response, I hadn't thought about it that way. I guess in a way I am helping. I'm starting the GM in my area hosting entry-level adventures (First Steps) with the purpose of teaching new players. Kind of piggy-backing the Beginner Box for those that wish to learn Society Play. I've already started to see a small increase. Wednesday there was a new guy at our table that had never played table-top before. He came to the Beginner Bash and played the Beginner Box. Then he signed up for a Society game to learn more. It was so fun having a fresh player that had never encountered all the things we consider cliche.
I'll talk with my VC to see if there is a way to further promote the Society on a regular basis and get more new blood.
