Living Greyhawk gaming material?

3.5/d20/OGL

Does anyone know how to access files that are from the old Living Greyhawk stuff? They were really good at fleshing out the environs, can be really valuable if they are used as generic settings in Golarion and they are pretty nice adventures. (long sentence)

I have all the original greyhawk stuff....the glossography and such. If you email me...will try to help. Not sure about the "living" greyhawk you speak of.

Make friends with people who still have the stuff on their hard drives.

All of the Living Greyhawk material was retired and removed from circulation. There is the double complication of double copyright both that of the authors and WOTC IP which effectively prevents any of that material from every being published again.

A shame. I would have liked to have seen it.

Yeah, I picked up the Living Greyhawk gazetteer pretty early on and it's extremely well-detailed (except the lack of a master timeline, which I had to piece together myself with several hours of rather interesting research.) It's a shame to hear about the big tangle of IP-rights that prevent it from coming back into circulation. (Why is it the World of Greyhawk's fate to have lawyers bickering over it for all eternity? I guess the ol' War between Law and Chaos was won by Law, eh?)

There aren't any lawyers bickering over the material. It's just the nature of the modules themselves. Much of the Living Greyhawk modules were written by the player base themselves. They retain authorship copyright over those modules. At the same time, WOTC retains IP ownership over the product identity aspects of those modules. The author can't republish without approval from WOTC and vice versa. And given that these modules were 3.5, WOTC is not likely to grant approval or seek publishing rights from the authors.

I suppose a more apposite metaphor would have been "lawyers standing guard over its tomb." Oh, well.
