In regards to the Icy Prison spell, I'm afraid I need a little clarification: what is the fortitude save for? Here is what the spell does...
Icy Prison
Evocation [Cold]; Level 6
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S
Range medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level)
Target one creature
Duration 1 minute/level; see text
Saving Throw: Reflex partial, fortitude negates (see text); Spell Resist: yes
You trap the target in solid ice 1 inch thick per caster level. If the creature fails its save, it is helpless, but can still breathe (the ice blocks line of effect to the target). If the target makes its save, it gains the entangled condition but can otherwise act normally. Whether or not the target saves, it takes 1 point of cold damage per caster level each round it is helpless or entangled in the ice. The ice has hardness 0 and 3 hit points per inch of thickness; if broken, the creature is freed. A creature can break the ice with a successful Strength check (DC 15 + your caster level).
As I said, I'm not sure what 'Fortitude negates' part is actually for. I'm assuming the reflex save is to see if you get the 'helpless' or 'entangled' condition, but the fortitude save eludes me. Can anyone help?

That's pretty neat. It says 'see text', but there's no such text...
You've got two possibilities, and I need to look up the resolution order, but either:
A) The 'Fort negates' part used to exist but no longer does.
or
B) The 'Fort negates' part doesn't require explanation, and got cut from the text.
In the case of 'A', ignore it. There's no Fort save. If the spell's text is more important than the spell's block, then this wins.
In the case of 'B', a successful Fort save means that the spell does nothing. If the spell's block trumps the text, then this one wins...

Yeah, the spell is a little dubious as far as what it does. My initial impression was that if you fail the reflex save, you have to make a fortitude save to determine if you get frozen in ice and gain the 'helpless' condition. If you pass the fortitude save, you don't get the helpless condition, but you still get the 'entangled' condition (the reflex save would mainly determine if the fortitude save would be necessary...meaning a creature would need to fail both a reflex and fortitude save in order to gain the 'helpless' condition).
But yea, if you find any further clarification, please let me know. Also, I have another thread in the 'question' forums entitled "Questions Regarding Battering Blast and Magic Mace". If anyone could take a look at that one, I'd really appreciate it.
