Crane Riposte Benefit: Whenever you use Crane Wing to deflect an opponent's attack, you can make an attack of opportunity against that opponent after the attack is deflected.
My question is if you are attacked with reach and your monk does not have reach, does this mean you cannot gain an AoO afterall using your Crane Riposte style feat?

If you can't hit the opponent that the AoO is provoked from then you cannot make the Attack even though you are entitled to.

Thanks for your answer. It would seem then, that if you are going to pick up a style feat that allows retaliatory attacks, it would be worthwhile checking that you can use a monk reach weapon with that feat. Otherwise you may be limiting the use of your style feat.

Yes you can use a monk reach weapon such as a KusriGama with this feat if they attack at reach you can hit them with it since it simply gives you an AoO.

If your opponent is using a reach weapon and you are unarmed, when you are entitled to the AoO could you use this to sunder or disarm the reach weapon instead of wasting the AoO due to not being able to strike the opponent?
No. We know this is not possible because of the existence of Strike Back. It is the only way I know of to do what you describe. Note that it only applies to Readied Attacks and not AoOs.
Strike Back (Combat)
You can strike at foes that attack you using their superior reach, by targeting their limbs or weapons as they come at you.Prerequisite: Base attack bonus +11.
Benefit: You can ready an action to make a melee attack against any foe that attacks you in melee, even if the foe is outside of your reach.

It has to be a one-handed weapon, because Crane Wing requires you to have a hand free. That said, it does not have to be a monk weapon. Any weapon will work.
Unfortunately, I believe the only one-handed reach weapons are whips and whip variants, which are all exotic weapons that the monk doesn't automatically get proficiency with.
