Gamicon is Iowa's longest-running gaming convention, now in its 21st year!
Gamicon Phi will take place Friday, February 10, through Sunday, February 12, 2012, at the Iowa Memorial Union on The University of Iowa campus in Iowa City, IA.
We plan on hosting 5 slots of Pathfinder Society, 10-12 tables each slot.
To register for the convention go here.
Once you have registered for the convention, you will be cleared to register on our Warhorn site here
We are definitely going to offer the GenCon 2011 Special as well as a mixture of all different level ranges of the newest scenarios. Boons will be available as well as Gamicon raffle prizes.
There will be lots of other games besides PFS as well as a Dealer's Area.
If you have interest in GMing for me, please email me at PFSIowa@gmail.com and I'll add you to our judge roster. Judge swag bags will be pretty awesome for those that donate all 5 slots to PFS. You also get to be heckled by yours truly at no extra charge! Judge spots are limited to a first come first serve basis, but fear not, if you do not get a judge slot, you can then PLAY, PLAY, PLAY!

Well to be honest I signed up for a schedule that would work with my played mods and characters, and then noticed Thea is judging the first 3.
It looks likely I'll get to finish off my Siege Engineer's (normal play) career with Blood Under Absalom.
And torture Thea's table's with Farak, the Most Powerful Mage in All of Absalom.

I'm still looking for a couple of judges to fill in some gaps in the slots. Gamicon badges are only $15 for judges for the entire weekend and you get a GM swag bag filled with lots of goodies. The more you judge, the better your swag bag gets!
Register for the convention first and then sign up on our Warhorn site in the OP.

I really wish I was able to make it down there. I attended a few years during the LG days, and GamiCon was one of the high points of each convention year. Great location, great people - an all around great time...
If anyone is on the fence about going GamiCon, get off the fence and go. You won't be sorry.

I'm looking for some transit/lodging advice/help.
The story so far...
I'll be driving to Iowa City from Ames on Friday afternoon and driving back on Sunday afternoon.
I'm trying to figure out lodging and transit once in Iowa City. The Iowa House Hotel is quite convenient but is awfully expensive. There are some really cheap hotels further out as a possible solution.
...
Optimally, I would like to find somebody to stay with who doesn't live too far away whose generosity I could repay with things like dinner and driving/parking at the Memorial Union.
Advice and information regarding options in Iowa City would be quite helpful as well.
Thanks,
-Robert

I was imagining that the Old Capitol Histoic Museum and the Natural History museum would be closen on Sundays, but your suggestion got me to check: both are open Sunday afternoons from 1 till 5.

I've already carefully planned how to kill Bob Jonquet's character in the first slot (The Kortos Envoy) and steal his stars.
Back off there buddy ... his stars are already willed to me .. and I have more access to wack him off and take'em hehe
*pulls out her notebook and thumbs thru*

Google tells me it's 2 and a half although it took me a bout 2:10 last time I came over.
Geography is still confusing to me though, I moved 1,800 miles east and am still in the (mid)west.
just remember the average speed on I-80 is roughly 90 mph ...
We're the center of the US so we're still "mid" for most places

The con was a blast and was bigger and better than last year. The special went off without a hitch and I think we managed to run the special in 4.5 hours!!!!!!
Were you the Overseer? That's the only way it could have gotten done early! ;-)
Kill any animal companions this year Thea?

I had a blast. I tried to kill Bob's Paladin but eventually I rolled a 1 on my grapple before the Minotaur Elder was able to gore him to death.
I think my Special GM tried to kill us with 104 points of damage to the party before we could act. Most of us made it though. 11th level characters are capable of some pretty amazing things.
