I noticed the same thing today. Using Goodreader.
Slow as molasses on the iPad 1 as well. It was BRUTAL Crystal. Something definitely wrong with that file compared to the others. It was almost unusable. Pages were taking 5-10 seconds to load -- repeatedly.
Normally, performance at the table using Goodreader is remarkably snappy. Not with this file.

It was actually my fault ;D
I've gone in and made a change to the file that should help with the performance. If you download again, it should work for you now.

Fault's not important; credit -- otoh -- is. Thanks for fixing it :)

I downloaded the new version and just tried it on the Ipad 1 using Goodreader. I dunno about "fixed".
It's still very slow compared to other 32 page modules. It's loading only two pages at a time and the time to load is still very considerable - on the order of 5 seconds plus for every two pages. Something still wrong here.
On exiting the file in Goodreader, the program gives me a wait symbol and tells me it is clearing the cache. I don't recall having seen that wait spinner symbol ever before.
It's a little BETTER than it was, which was essentially at the unusable stage. But something is still wrong with the file's performance compared to other .pdfs. Adventure Path .pdfs load much faster, for example, and that seems counterintuitive given Ravenmoor's file size.

Out of curiosity, Chris, do you do any optimization on your PDF's? I've noticed on PDFs that I've created that, if I don't run a pre-flight optimization on them, Adobe loads a ton of unneeded data that can really slow down mobile/tablet devices. Here's a link to how to do so:

I do know a lot of about optimization for PDFs. However, our focus hasn't been solely on tablets and I'm looking into different ways we can compromise a bit. Thank you for the link :)

Is there anything I can do on my end. It takes in excess of 15-30 seconds to load a page on Ravenmoor using iBooks, if I shrink or zoom, it needs to reload every time. In this state, for me to be able to run it, I will need to print it off. Which is counter-intuitive to what I was going for with an Ipad 2.
What is different about this PDF compared to like any of the Carrion Crown APs, they run silky smooth and have no difficulty quickly flipping between pages.

Totally understand, Chris - I'm in the strange position of having to learn more about optimizing PDF's for tablets because I work in defense contracting creating PDF's of tech manuals, and the government is making a push towards tablets to replace the laptops the flight crews currently use. Hope I didn't come across as trying to teach you your own business, lol! :)
