Arcane Pool + Magic Weapon?

Rules Questions

Salutations.

I know that a Magus' Arcane pool bonuses stack with "existing" weapon enhancement bonuses (such as a +2 sword...which would become +3 with a low level Magus Arcane bonus). Can you stack that with arcane pool with "Magic Weapon?" to bring that up another +1 to hit/damage?

Magic Weapon creates an enhancement bonus that would overlap (would not stack) with existing enhancements on the weapon.

Example:

Casting Magic Weapon on a stick gives you a +1 stick. Further using Arcane Pool would give you a +2 through +5 stick depending on your level.

Starting out with a +1 stick, and using Magic Weapon yields a +1 stick, with similar effects to the above.

Starting out with a mundane stick, and using Arcane Pool yields a +1 through +5 stick. If the enhancement bonus is less that +5 from Arcane Pool, casting Magic Weapon on that stick would bring it's "existing" enhancement bonus to +1, and it's effective enhancement bonus would increase by 1 to a maximum of +5. Think of it like Barkskin; Arcane Pool is an enhancement bonus to your enhancement bonus. (URL is funny but potentially NSFW with some of the example pictures)

Figured I'd post this here rather than make a new thread.

Just to double check, the maximum converted enhancement bonus to a weapon, even using Arcane Pool is +5, correct?

Example:

I have a +1 Keen Agile Rapier. I'm a 9th level Magus. When I use my Arcane Pool to enhance that weapon I only get to add a maximum of an additional +2 of goodies to it, despite the fact that (by my level) I have the ability to add +3.

The exception is the Bladebound archetype, where the weapon's enhancement bonuses stack with whatever the Magus adds with his Arcane Pool, yes?

There are two maximums on any given weapon. It can only have up to a +5 enhancement bonus to attack and damage. And it's total bonus, enhancement + extra goodies, can only add up to +10. The arcane pool cannot go over this limit (that includes the black blade).

So you could use your 5 points of arcane pool to make a non-magical sword into a +5 sword.

You could make a +1 sword into a +5 flaming sword.

You could make a +1 flaming sword into a +5 flaming burst sword.

etc. etc.

The arcane pool's bonuses always stack on top of whatever else is on the weapon, but only to a maximum total bonus of up to +5 enhancement, and up to +10 total.

It should be noted that Magic Weapon does NOT stack with a weapon's enhancement bonus, should it have one. But does stack with Arcane Pool.

So casting Magic Weapon on a nonmagical sword gets you a +1 sword.
But casting it on a +1 sword gets you...a +1 sword.

Casting order doesn't matter. So even if you take a +1 sword, then use your pool to add another +2 to get a +3 sword, then cast Magic Weapon on it you get...a +3 sword. The Magic Weapon's bonus won't stack over a persistant enhancement bonus.

I see. Thanks muchly, mate!
