Permanency + invisibility?

Rules Questions

Unless i'm wrong i could use permanency on a ring to make it permanently invisible (invisibility followed by permanency that is!) right?

If yes then what happend if i attack the palace guard?
Do i stay invisible then goin around the mechanics of invibility spell?
Or do i become visible making the spell permanency totaly useless?

Perm invisibility is for objects only. Your own invisibility is a different matter entirely.

Just because an object you have is invisible that does not make you invisible. As an example I can have an invisible sword in my hand, but that does not mean I am not seen.

If you are talking about the ring of invisibility then that is not how it works. You can not cast a spell on an already made item to change its function.

I think all your questions would be answered if you actually read the spell description for permanency.

You might be able to cast invisibility on the ring and then make permanently invisible, but that would not make YOU invisible if you wore the ring...

Invisibility, when cast on an object, doesn't transfer to creatures that touch that object.

From the Invisibility spell:
"The creature or object touched becomes invisible. If the recipient is
a creature carrying gear, that vanishes, too.[...]items picked up disappear if tucked into the clothing or pouches worn
by the creature."

The gear of creatures targetted by this spell becomes invisible when the spell is cast, later objects disapper only if the invisible creature hiddes them. Nothing similar for objects (altough you prolly remain unseen if you hide inside a invisible chest).

Incidentally, a permanently invisible ring with some other function of its own could be useful, particularly if you also permanently hide its magic aura. If you are captured, it won't be taken away.

In addition, I have the feeling that at the root of this question is the ability to get around the rules of Invisibility because it is Permanent.

That won't work either.

If you Permanently cast Invisibility on yourself (which I am not sure is possible), that just changes the duration to Permanent. Any actions that cancel Invisibility would still cancel Invisibility (attacking, dispel magic, etc). Going Improved Invisibility would be an improvement, but it could still be dispelled.

So, in effect you would just waste a lot of money. :)
