Savage Tides in Golarion

Savage Tide Adventure Path

I'm thinking of running Savage Tides in Golarion if possible, but I'm having a real hard time making sense of WHERE to place things (Sasserine, Isle of Dread)...
Any ideas?

Thanks

There are any number of cities that can double as Sasserine: just make sure they're far enough from the tropics that getting to the Isle of Dread will involve a sea journey of a couple months. You might consider Magnimar in Varisia. The Isle of Dread should be 'previously uncharted', so as long as it's far enough south to be in the sub-tropical zones you can put it wherever you think ships would ignore it (although given the prevalence of dinosaurs you might want to locate it off the Mwangi Expanse somewhere.)

That a great idea, thank you...

Sasserine itself is sub-tropical at the very least (if not actaully tropical), what with parrots and monkeys in/near the city, and plantations in the hinterlands. Eleder or Sargava on the western coast of Garundi might be good options, as the post-Chelaxian colonial days are similar to Sasserine's recent independence.

Scuttlecove could be Bloodcove, Drenchport, or even Ilizamgorti. Maybe the Crimson Fleet could be a faction of the Shackles pirates. (Note that the next AP after Jade Regent is Skull and Shackles, with related support material on pirates, etc.)

And the Isle of Dread is indeed "off the map" in the tropics somewhere.

This question has been asked quite a bit, and there are probably 4-5 older threads out there on the topic. However, James Jacobs gave his own response in this one.

Sovereign Court

My own take: Sasserine was a Sargavan colony who gained its Independence from Sargava after the deal to toadying to the free captains became known. What broke the whale's back was the further news that Sasserine was to be given up to not only the Shackle pirates but to Cheliax as well in a desperate attempt to appease them. The hereditary title of Sea Prince was removed in place of the Dawn Council after the Red Mantis aided in the revolt against the Terakian regime.

The Pathfinder Society - The Seekers

The Scarlet Embassy/Scarlet Brotherhood - embassy of The Red Mantis, the nation of Cheliax or shrine of Asmodeus or even all three.

Azure District - Gozreh

Champion District - Gorum

Cudgel District - Abadar

Merchant District - Desna

Noble District - Pharasma

Shadowshore District - Norgorber

Sunrise District - Sarenrae

The Crimson Fleet is a renegade band who opposes the Shackle pirates and secretly backed by the Aspis Consortium.

I'm just starting to run Savage Tide and am reading through everything right now. I see in the link Bryan provided that James Jacobs suggested Ilizmagorti subbing for Scuttlecove.

However, while I'm certainly not as up on my Golarion lore, I'm wondering if it seems like an odd choice to anyone else, unless you're planning to do a lot of rewriting. It just seems far more chaotic there than I picture for someplace controlled by the Red Mantises. I'm thinking subbing in Bloodcove instead, or possibly Port Peril. As much fun as I think a trip to Ilizmagorti would be, the Red Mantises and their city just feel like a bad fit to me for the Serpents of Scuttlecove...

I think it makes sense, but don't confuse the Mantises with the Coil. Instead, have them take the place of the Triad, and put the city in a civil war during the AP, with the Mantises/Holy Triad fighting to regain control from the Crimson (Shackles) Fleet and Bone (Aspis) Consortium. In this scenario, Tyralandi becomes less of a 'faction' and more of a free agent power player, possibly working for the Mantis.
