Optimizing Undead Anatomy

Advice

Liberty's Edge

One of the players in my Pathfinder home game is playing a specialist wizard necromancer and is asking about using Undead Anatomy (I & II) and is curious about the best creatures to use with the spell.

I'm trying to help out and find the best combinations of creatures and uses for the spell. I'm assuming it could be used to turn into all kinds of odd creatures like vampire gargoyles and wight pixies.
What options have the best mix of powers? Are there any good synergies?

Dotting for interest.

All the good options for Alter Self and Monstrous Physique should serve you well.

Check out the bard spells. . . I'm sure there are some great support things in there.

Dot.

Liberty's Edge

According to quick glances through other option boggards and dopplegangers are good but not game changing.
Although, if Undead Anatomy can turn you into non-Humanoids it would be more useful. But the spell is uncertain about this point. UA1 says humanoid only but 2+ don't, but also have the "as Undead Anatomy I" caveat. I still like my vampire gargoyle idea...

The ideal thing to do with Undead anatomy is look for a human-shaped creature, you want the abilities of, and then say "I am turning into a lich _______"

Shadow Lodge

I'm know this thread is old but I don't think you can do what you're suggesting as it's a polymorph spell and they can't be used to turn into creatures with templates. The spell seems to be written with the assumption you can as lots of the abilities are tied to templates (like shadowless) but from what I understand of polymorph spells it doesn't work.
