Transformation spells

Would it be possible to add a Transformation spell to be added to change the caster or the one touched into a Giant subtype? There is a spell to make someone into an Undead subtype or a Monterous Humanoid.

As I read it, the polymorph spells grant the form of a certain creature, along with several listed abilities connected to the type, not the type or subtybe itself.

Generally, the way to change a creature's subtype is for it to gain a new template, in which case the transformation is permanent. So if there would be a spell to do this, it should be pretty high level. Not even shapechange states that the change applies to subtype as well.

Giant Form is unfortunately much too high level, if I wanted to change into a large humanoid with a strength boost I'd have to either use enlarge person (kinda giant form I) or wait till I am a level 13 arcane caster. Presumably the main reason for this is because the spell has the potential to grant regeneration, making the only viable use to change into a troll, mechanically speaking you are way better off using monstrous humanoid to change into a large humanoid-like creature, which is a lvl 4 or 5 spell instead of lvl 7.

So your viable options are limited to enlarge person, a bull headed 'giant' or a giant with warty green skin and a hooknose.. kinda makes me want to play a cleric instead.

I don't believe there are any large humanoids that do not have the giant subtype.

You are probably right.. maybe we should redefine giant to Large sized humanoid instead. It would open a new market in Giant Bane weapons.
