Liberty's Edge

I didn't notice a thread for this one - is anyone watching it? If so, what do you think?

I've caught a few episodes and am quite enjoying it almost despite myself (the depiction of vampires initially seemed a bit 'Twilighty' to me, and it being a US remake of a British series wasn't a big selling point).

I got into the British series near the middle of the last season and not leaning towards the new American version.

Silver Crusade

Yeah, I have seen a couple of episodes and enjoyed them. I think The 8th Dwarf has as well.

Liberty's Edge

I’ve only seen a couple of episodes of the original British version, and it didn’t really strike a chord with me. I don’t know if I caught a couple of poor episodes, or if it was just hard to pick up mid series ... for whatever reason I prefer the US version, but I haven’t really seen enough of the original to make a fair comparison.

Silver Crusade

I will have to try the US version...

Honestly it's cheesy, and being a remake of a recent British show is less than a selling point (I feel a remake of anything foreign should be with a goo length of time between the two, but oh well). Truth be told I like the show despite how absolutely cheesy it is, because of some good actors, a fun premise and it's one of the few shows me and my wife can agree on and watch together. ScFi's Haven is another example of delicious cheese we watch together. It I a rare scifi show that I can get her to watch so if it's one shell like to then it's a win in my book!

I had been watching it, when it was on. There have not been any new episodes lately. I was wondering if it did not already get canceled. It was no where nearly as good as the BBC version, but I also did not get to watch all of those. BBC America started the show mid season and on season 3, I think, as well. They are no longer showing it either.

The American version is a bit Twilighty, but only superficially.

They aren't showing reruns, but it's the season break so there aren't any new episodes coming in until next year.

The scifi version is best seen if you've seen the original, but it's decent due to the fact that it starts a little earlier in the timeline between he vampire/werewolf (names escape me at the moment), combined with he fact that it shows you the various events through the series from a slightly different perspective allowing for the injection of a bit of extra depth. Don't think of it as a remake, so much as a different attempt at converting the story of those three folks' lives in a television medium.
If you've seen the original version:

Spoiler:
the scifi version goes into more and slightly different detail about things like the ghost and the "accident" that killed her, you get to eventually see how the werewolf/vampire me each other and decided to get an apartment together to look normal. Likewise with a lot of other things that are only even notable if you have seen the original

Not all remakes of British shows are bad or even inferior. "All In The Family" comes to mind. Originally based on a Brit show "Til Death Do Us Part."

Well just to ease my mind, I checked and they did in fact renew the show for a second season. Although it seems this is where they break ranks with the original story lines and are purposely ignoring anything in the second series from the BBC.

I'm referring to Being Human on BBC America.

Good, I liked the deviations in the first season, and I think it will be stronger if it stands on its own.

Not being shown right now either. Seems much better made though.

The UK Version IS helped by Russel Tovey (the actor who plays george) having a massive gay fanbase, him spending a lot of the show with his shirt off, and when he was last single, Twittering pictures of himself in just his underpants

I did not know he was gay.
