How does ranged Flanking work? Does the enemy still have to be flanked, or can someone with a ranged attack get the bonus and not the melee class? I ask mainly because I know Sneak Attack can be applied within thirty feat for ranged Rogues and whatnot so I'm just curious.
Is there a better source for for traps and poisons? I haven't looked much Game Mastery Guide, so there might be something in there?

You can't flank at range. Period.
When making a melee attack, you get a +2 flanking bonus if your opponent is threatened by another enemy character or creature on its opposite border or opposite corner.
...
Only a creature or character that threatens the defender can help an attacker get a flanking bonus.
And in case you're not sure on "threatening":
You threaten all squares into which you can make a melee attack, even when it is not your turn.
All of this is in the Combat chapter.
For a rogue to get sneak attack at range, he needs a way for the enemy to be denied its DEX bonus to AC.
Dunno about the traps/poisons stuff, sorry.

I think the Daggermaster (or whatever it is called) Archtype in Ultimate Combat has a way of Threatening at range, which by the wording of flanking would allow them to be considered flanking if they had an ally who was on the opposite border of the creature, but it wouldn't count the other way around (i.e. wouldn't work for the friend who was providing the flank).

I believe that there might be a feat (possibly a teamwork one) that would allow you to flank a creature at range so long as two of your teammates also have the feat and are flanking the guy

Also relevant: A creature that is not 'armed' does not threaten, and thus does not grant flank or benefit from attacks of opportunity. A creature is armed when it (for example) wields a weapon, has a natural weapon, has a offensive Touch spell on its hand ready to discharge, or has Improved Unarmed Strike.
I say this because an above poster said that you threaten all squares into which you can make a melee attack -- yet this isn't the whole picture. Without the above paragraph, you may have said to yourself, "Hey! I can wield a ninja star in one hand, and punch with the other!" or "I can wield a bow and then karate kick!" Sadly, no.

Gang Up lets you flank if two of your allies are adjacent, but it still does not let you flank at range.
You can only gain the benefits of flanking when you are making a melee attack.
Snap Shot, from UC, lets you threaten with a ranged weapon at 5' and the Improved version increases that to 15'. It would seem that this would allow you to provide flanking, but not to take advantage of it, since you are not making a melee attack, and only melee attacks can take advantage of flanking.

That's the one I was thinking of. But yeah you're right, the flanking rules state you must be making a melee attack.

Sadly, that was me quoting the rules. Still some polishing yet to do, know what I mean? ;)

i think what you really are asking is when you can use your sneak attack at range. it isn't usually as complicated as all the flanking stuff that has been posted here. its just a matter of getting to go first, before an opponent gets to act, at that point they are denied their dex bonus(flat footed) and thus subject to sneak attacks. also, if they are blinded, or if you are invisible, and i'm sure there are other options as well if you dig but thats how you get to sneak attack from range.
