Quick 'Probably Dumb' Question...

Rules Questions

Well... Damage Reduction.

Say a creature has "DR10/Cold Iron - Good"...

and cast a Fireball spell at it. Do you reduce the Fireball's damage by 10? Or does the damage reduction only apply to weapons?

Ultradan

Damage Reduction does not apply to energy damage, just weapon damage. Fireball will do its normal damage unless the creature is resistant, vulnurable, or immune to fire (barring abilities like evasion). I'll see if I can dig you up a quote in the PRD.

Damage Reduction

DR applies to attack damage (weapon damage). A fireball deals energy damage and is resisted by energy resistance.

If you attack with a fiery longsword, the 1d8 is resisted by the DR, but the 1d6 fire damage is not resisted by the DR.

Only to Weapons

The Fireball does normal Damage unless the creature in Question has Fire resistance as well.

Or immunity to fire then the point is mute. ;)

All of this answers my question perfectly... Thank you!
